Today it was asked of me-(please discuss!)

1)Can Hatchetman 2057 be affected by Cyberpsychosis, given his text reads:
Ignore essence loss?

My answer was (and may be wrong):
Yes. The text was conveying that he could have UL cyberware (or nearly)
without dying. It was not intended as a loophole to ignore balance cards
like cyberpsychosis....

2)Does Sudden Goblinization remove skills from the card or ALL skills, even
those given by other cards (like athletics from dermal armor, or gunnery
from Gyro-Stabilization)?

My answer was (and may be wrong):
No (although YourMileageMayVary). No one argues that the cards like
Gyro-Stab or Derm Armor would give those skills to the runner if put on
him AFTER a sudden gobbo....or that it is unrealistic that sudden gobbo
would remove the gunnery skill when a character has a Gyro Mount
equipped...so in the interest of bookkeeping, the skills sudden gobbo
remove are just the ones listed on the character card.

3)Does eyekiller do it's Armor Piercing damage to passing-by runners
(without stealth-2) if the alarms has been triggered?

My answer was-
of course.

4)The astral sentry says it may only be attacked by shamans and mages. Does
that mean just the character's threat rating can be used or can they use
spells and spirits to combat it?

My answer was-
I'll ask somebody. It sure would make it tough if you could only use
their threat rating.

4.1)The astral sentry says that if no mages or shamans are present the
alarm is triggered....but what if there is a shaman and mage present and
they fight it? Is the alarm still triggered?

Awile back these had been asked but I never got an answer-

1)Do ally spirits count toward your X spirits/turn every turn or only when
you sack them (given their bonus is based on being in-play)?

2)Is the recon ability of the crawler drone a matrix action?

Ok...now for my inflammatory comments section (skip if you don't wish to
object).

I broke down and bought more SR:TCG. My name is Jeff and I'm and addict.
Unfortunately I was shorted a rare out of 1 of the starters!
I am at one with the me....I am centered in the me....This is me breathing....

My girlfriend plays a Shaman deck. She has always played a shaman deck.
When we first started playing we noticed the rules were a little imprecise
and generally proceeded to interpret them in the manner that best
entertained us. Other people began to buy and play and life was
good.<Present day>I noticed some people still play that shamans and riggers
can only replace their threat ratings with their spirits/drones during a
shadowrun. We have found this concept repellant as Shamen<sp?> and Riggers
are almost useless when playing by the rulez in this manner. I was
wondering if anyone else disregarded this restriction and allowed their use
during all combat (allowing the runner to sit out of combat until his
spirit/drone is destroyed then taking overflow)?

I do not think that block party should stay in play.
(that wasn't too bad, but I have said it before!)

Karina's fictional Character Card-

Name: Luna - Combat Shaman
Type: Human Prime Runner
Cost: 6/1
Threat: 2/4
Skills: Conjure-3 Stealth-1
Text: Luna may not use spirits without a threat rating.
Quote: "Anger is a gift I give to you."

I've always played that he does; H-2057 still loses Essence, he just has
an infinite capacity (and so will never go to zero). After you've
tossed Muscle Rep, Dermal Plating and Wired Reflexes on him, however, he
still has a -9 Essence effect on him (making him *rael* suspect to
Cyber-psychosis).

Or, in other words, H-2057 ignores the Essence loss *restriction*, but
not the actual effect.

Yeah, the game balance thing works too :)

I've always done natural skills only; I suppose you could argue that in
the process of doubling your body mass and growing tusks, your cyberware
gets fracked as well.. but that seems pretty unbalanced. Makes more
sense (and a stronger deck) to say that Skillsofts and so on would work.

Anything with a Threat Rating does, more or less.

Alarm = Bad news, they know you're coming!

Spells are obviously acceptable, as they replace the Mage's Attack
Rating. I can't express in mechanics why Spirits would, but obviously,
they should be able to. (It's probably along the lines that they're
simply Gear played on a Shaman, not separate Runners.)

Cool.. I can give a Panther Cannon to a Mage and he *does* deal astral
damage with it!

Well.. um.. yeah, that would seem to be the case, huh.. unless, of
course, they sleaze it (Conjure-2).

The unofficial-official answer is that if you apply their bonus, you're
"using" them. I'd say sacking them doesn't constitute an additional use
after that.

> 2)Is the recon ability of the crawler drone a matrix action?

Nope. This is one I'm fussy with FASA with.

Well.. it depends on the situation. An Awakened Creature, f'rinstance,
that targets the shaman would have its attacks split between the shaman
and the Spirits he/she has. In most cases, the damage goes mostly to
the Spirit.

OTOH, there's all sorts of nasty targeted-damage cards that deal damage
specifically to a Runner.. so you can't send that City Spirit out
sniffing for Booby Traps, no.

Me neither. (Esh, 10Y is enough of a sinkhole as it is without someone
scrapping it for free.)

Hehehe.. this alone is worth it. Shark Totem, maybe?
