had some more questions. what else is new.

this came up in a game tonite. if my decker uses black hammer to start a
"matrix combat" with another decker, does the target decker (one
being attacked) turn, like they would in a normal combat (like with
barfight, zzone, etc)? also, are the deckers involved in the matrix combat
considered to be in the safehouse, ie can someone use guard on them?

here's yet another yellowjacket question. how does using gear like doc
wagon: platinum work? if i die while using yellowjacket, am i just not
allowed to use the doc wagon? which leads me to the question of when i can
use gears like vehicles. if someone plays riots, can i state that i'm
going to activate it? or is it always active once attached?

Decker-to-Decker combat is handled like normal combat. The attacking
Runner would turn (if just for the battle) and the defending Decker
remains unturned. Since they are in Runner-on-Runner combat, they are
out of the safehouse and can't be guarded.

I've always allowed DW and the Yellowjacket to work on the same Runner.
That seems to be more house-rulish, though. Maybe they just don't do
flight insurance?

Vehicles are always "active", unless you have more than one, at which
point you'd have to decide which one was active and which one was not.
Pretty obviously, you can only sit in one driver's sear at a time. The
RBT says to declare Vehicles at the beginning of the shadowrun. I'd say
they remain in use after that until the player declares the Runner is
using another Vehicle.

Unless the defending Decker is physically visiting a location/contact,
they would be in the safehouse. Yes, IMHO the guard ability could be
used on them. Think of it as the alert person who keeps tabs on the
decker and jacks him (or her) out of the matrix if that decker starts to
get into trouble.

I would have to agree with mb here. since the Decker-to-Decker combat
is in the Matrix. how could some one guard them the damage is not like
a bullet or a physical beating. some one cant step in front of a brain
fry. but this could be a new card. Matrix tag along, guard program.

Wasn't there a ruling that you couldn't use Guard against damage done
through the Matrix? Or am I imagining things? Maybe the ruling was that
"normal" armor cards can't block damage done through the Matrix.

Anyway, you couldn't use Guard in the situation above because the two
Deckers would be involved in Runner vs. Runner combat. The Runner with
Guard wouldn't be present.

They are in the safehouse, but cannot be guarded... This isn;t something
that a troll can protect your decker from.
