Subject: Quick question over Vampires...

Since when did silver bullets have an affect upon Vampires? Werewolves
were the ones that had to avoid them...

According to myth, a vampire can be destroyed or ~paralysed~ by :
- sun light (actually ultra violet radiation)
- wooden stake will reduce the body to ashes and bones, but removal can
reborn it
- beheading a vampire does nothing deadly
- garlic allegedly wards off, but they can resist
- holy symbols have gone both ways... if the vampire is evil in nature,
then yes...
- holy water burns
- can not enter a building without being invited first
- a coffin filled with ancient homelands dirt is not required

There are a few others, but these are the general ones.

Actually having done a considerable amount of study on the subject of
Vampires recently... (I'm working on a series of short stories), there
is alot of opinion on what does work on vampires. I have check
mythology, various authors, and lots of books. There are alot of
differences, but there are some shared thoughts. Here is what I have
found... BTW This is a little OT.

Shadowrun vampires are a bread in themselves and different than other
vampires from other RPGs. They are powerful magic users as well as
enhanced physical stats. They are very powerful adversaries and woo to
the shadowrunning team that encounters them.

Vampires have an sever alergic reaction to silver. If you enter a
vampires castle, you will most likley find gold knives, forks, spoons,
etc. Sunlight will instantly toast a vampire...
Crosses only work in a Christian society based stories... and holy
symbols only work if the wielder is stong in his belief, otherwise it is
just a trinkit. Holy water burns, because it is the blessing of a god
against the damned. Garlic is a deturant not a killing blow, because of
the vampires highly developed sences, the strong odor of garlic is
uncomfortable and has the same effect as stong onions on humans. The
wooden staking of the heart does not kill the vampire... what it does do
is staple the thing into its coffin, holding it in place, so you can use
some other means of killing it. If it is a silver stake, that is a
different story. Vampires are noble creature... believe it or not...
and the can't enter without permission is more a thing of honor, and
nobility than a failing of species. The concept of can't cross moving
water, is a little flaky... some texts agree, some don't. Almost all
agree that a vampire has no reflection, and that vampires must "feed" on
human blood.

Again this is just some of the things I have found... If you really want
to argue a point I could point out the book that says you are right.
And point out another that says you are wronge. There is so much stuff
out there, that it really is up to what YOU want to believe that a
vampire can and cannot do.

Anyway since this is OT any replies to this please send Private E-mail.

Don't forget the fresh roses...vampires have a major problem with roses
(another allergy thing).

Have a better one,
Chad
