Hello Guys
I've heard many rumours on SRTCG, and thought I'd ask what is really
happening.
Heres the Question(s)...
Did Fasa stop producing Shadowrun Cards altogether?
Is Fasa still Making the cards?
Is it possible to still buy the cards?
AND
Why Did Fasa Stop Selling them?
If anyone has answers to my questions then please email me.
Thanks

Yes.

No.

Maybe. Many stores are selling out of their stock, so if you can find such
a store, you might get a good deal on the cards they have left. If none of
the stores in your area carry the cards, you could ask them to order some
for you. I was under the impression that there were no more cards to
order, but my local store owner was able to get some in, so the
distributors must still have some. You can also find cards for auction on
Ebay a lot of the time.

>Why Did Fasa Stop Selling them?

The card game market is not strong enough for FASA to be sure they can make
a profit by making more cards. They even have an expansion, Corp Wars,
play-tested and ready to go to the printers, but cannot justify the
printing cost.

Not only that but they realized that they are a role-playing company. they
are known for their great rpg's not card games. It's like wotc buying
tsr..fine you have the biggest rpg company in your back pocket, but what
next. if you fill the offices with card game creators how far in a rpg
environment are you going to get?? not far....Fasa did what was in their
best interest..at first I like so many were pissed at fasa, but I put myself
in their spot...I would have done the same thing. I just wish they released
corp wars before they decided to pull it... it had some really great cards
and was hoping to make some more killer decks.

Gabe,

You stated that really well. By far, that's one of the best written posts
I've seen on the subject.

Cheers,

Well Gabe, there are 2 things to tack onto this. First, FASA is
actually at least as well know for a board game (Battletech) as for
its RPGs.
Second, money has been about as tight at FASA as in the rest of the
industry of late, & they just weren't confident enough that they'd
make enough cash from new cards. Plus they preferred to keep their
staff working on some of the new stuff coming out like the Shadowrun
RPG revolution that's happening right now, & the new game VOR (which
is gonna rule all).
However, now that FASA's execs ,as has been mentioned, have sold off
FIT for 30-odd mil, they seem to be in a much better position to make
things like Corp War. I wouldn't hold my breath, but a lot of the
FASA staff was mighty peeved at the set being done almost entirely,
then not released. And you can be sure this is gonna come up sooner
or later, & a little bird says sooner. So keep your fingers crossed
but DON'T get your hopes too high.
I'd recommend sending polite letters to the people in charge about
Corp War, & expressing your support of the set were it to be
released...

Yes, FASA stopped producing SRTCG late last year, but there are still a
few places that you can get the cards. I for one really liked the game
and was becoming good at it, but it seemed that the profit was not high
enough to keep the game going. Also FASA wanted to concentrate on the
two new games it is developing, Crimson Skies and Vor: The Malestrom. It
is not a foreseeable thing for the card game to come back as far as I
can tell.
