Subject: Spell Lock Questions

Hey all.

I was recently playing a game and I used the card "Spell Lock" for
the first time (I haven't played in almost 3 months). Anyway, here is the
issue I am having.

The spell lock was played on a bullet barrier (although the actual
spell it was played on makes no difference in this question). Now, spell
lock states that it allows a given spell to be used twice (and the spell
does not have to be turned the first time). Now, here is the question:

If I want to use a spell with a spell lock twice, does the runner
using the spell have to have a Sorcery of at least 2?

My initial reaction was that the runner had to have a Sorcery of at least
2, but then I thought about what a Spell Lock was. It's an object with a
spell bound to it. My ultimate decision was that the first usage of the
spell (which is essentially the use of the spell lock) does not count
against the number of spells that the mage can cast in a given turn.

What do you all think? Is there an official ruling on this?

Thanks.

Here's the answer we got on a similar question. (As found in the SRTCG Q&A.)
Spell Lock:
Q2: Let's say I have Wildfire out and he's geared up with three spells: Sleep,
Jinx and Fireball. I've put a Spell Lock on Sleep. During the course of a run
on Haunted Highrise I cast Sleep twice thanks to the spell lock and use Jinx
on a maglock. Now facing the Objective, am I correct in assuming I could not
use the Fireball as, even though I only turned two of my spells, I actually
have "used" my allotted three spells for this turn?
A2: Yes.

Based on this....
Since Wildfire has a Sorcery of 3 he can only use 3 spells even with the
Spell Lock. So in the case in the original question, the runner would have to
have of Sorcery of at least 2. (So a spell lock doesn't work too well on a
runner with only Sorcery 1.)
My take on Spell Lock is that since it allows you to use the same spell
twice, it is sort of like a having an extra copy of a spell card. For
example, you have a sleep card and an invisibility card on Wildfire (Sorcery
3) along with a Spell Lock (played on sleep). So you can use the sleep spell
card twice and the invisibility card once. If you added a hellblast spell,
you could use any three of the following: sleep, sleep, invisibility, and
hellblast. But not all 4.
Does this help at all? Or did I just add to the confusion.

As always, for the answers to your most nagging questions, check out the SRTCG
Q&A: SRCard's Official Unofficial SRTCG FAQ. Address in my sig.
