I think there were a number of reasons for moving the mailing list (as
well the other Shadowrun lists). Here are a couple of them, listed in
no particular order. Adam and/or Mark may be able to answer this with
more authority.
SRCard and the other Shadowrun related list such as ShadowRN were hosted
on a server owned/run by Itribe. The person who worked at Itribe (I
believe this was Mark, but I can't guarantee this) no longer works
there. So it was felt that a new home for the lists needed to be
found. It was a little "tacky" to be using a someone else's server for
something they didn't need/want.
The listserve software that was used to host the different mailing lists
was limited to 500 subscriptions. This number was not sufficient for
all the lists and this was causing a major headache for the people in
charge of maintaining the listserve software (i.e. Mark). So a new home
with better software was needed.
Hence the move.
