Nope, the Talismonger ability is triggered when you bring a gear/magic card into play.
This requires that you show the card and have the money to pay for the card if there is no
effect from the Talismonger. If you roll good enough to get another spell, then congrats,
but you can't try to get a new spell without putting one down first.
Ok, now a follow up question or two:
If I have 2 Mr. Black, do I get to roll for both of them every time I bring a weapon out?
This came up in a game I was playing the other night. If I remember correctly, it says
that you only use this ability once per weapon, but does that mean once per weapon per Mr.
Black (ugh, headache).
If you do roll for both of them and both times you get the "pay a minimum of 1"
roll, does that mean you have to pay 1 for the gear, or 1 for each roll on the gear (which
is, of course, 2).
Thanks,
Hurricane
