That's what I thought at first too. However, after rereading the card
in the above context I can see where it would go the other way.
Here's the text:

Wanted
Type: Special
Rarity: Uncommon
Description: 1¥. Play on target Runner. During their Legwork phase,
opponents may turn one Runner to attack target Runner. Trash
Wanted after resolving combat. Runner who defeats Wanted
Runner earns Reputation equal to deployment cost of Wanted
Runner.

Now with the way we've been playing it, I play Wanted on your runner
and then I can turn my runner to directly attack that runner. If I
choose not to this turn though any other player (assuming a
multiplayer game) may choose to take advantage of this card. Once
someone has decided to take advantage of this though, it is a one shot
deal, since Wanted is discarded.

However, consider the following. I play wanted on your runner. It is
now your legwork phase. All of your opponents (again assuming a
multiplayer game) may choose to turn a runner to "gang up" on the
Wanted runner. This makes the decision of who actually killed the
runner with Wanted (and therefore who gets the Rep) a little trickier.
Since this isn't outlined on the card I imagine that this is NOT the
way that it was designed. It could be an interesting alternative
though :-)
