Sorry Nick, I accidentally deleted your old message...

I'm in Mentor, and we do some gaming at a local college. ((Lakeland
Community College)) Mostly RPG's, and Most;y SR RPG, but some SR Cards :]

Mail me provately for more info...:]

Ok, before I answer the specifics, let me give you a rundown on some of the
basics...

Shadowrun takes place 61 years in our future, which makes it Currently
2058. One of the cool things about the SR world is that there is a
constantly flowing history to it. So each book takes place after the one
before it (at least, normally:))>

Anyways, in 2011, on Christmas Eve, Magic came back to the world. Elevs
and Dwarves appeared, and then a few years later, as the Mana (Magic)
levels rose, people began to goblinize into Trolls and Orks. Animals did
likewise, and began to turn into beasts from Mythology. At the same time,
Dragons reappeared. These aren't "Awakened" animals, but rather they are
ancient and powerful creatures that have been around for a LONG time.

Shadowrun is the 6th world. The last time tehre was magic was in the 4th
world, which is Earthdawn (Another RPG put out by FASA). It takes place
many thousands of years ago, and the Dragons have been around since.

The American Indians made a huge push to take back America, and there was a
pretty nasty war for a little while. Then, Danial Howling Coyote led what
is called teh "Great Ghost Dance", which was a heavy duty ritual magic
spell, and this helped bring the magic back. It also set off a BUNCH of
major volcanoes, and caused a LOT of Havoc. It also forced the US
government to giveback most of the US Midwest back to the Indians. This
became the NAN, The Native American Nations.

Later on, California seceded from the US, with the help of Japan, and
became California Free State (CFS). Central America was taken over by
Mexico, which reverted to it's Aztech Heritage and became Atzlan. There is
also a major corp that is almost (but not quite) one in the same with teh
government. That's Aztechnology. Atzlan also managed to take back part of
Texas.

Most of the South Seceded as well and became the CAS (Confederated American
States). NAN also took most of the Western part of Canada, and what little
was left of the US and Canada joined to become the United Canadian American
States (UCAS).

Seattle is huge, become a mega sprawl, but is all that's left of the UCAS
presence to the West. It's completely cut off from therest of the UCAS,
with the NAN and Tir Tairngire in betwee. The Elves managed to form tehir
own country, Tir Tairngire, out of part of the NAN. They also own most of
Ireland and have a major city there, Tir Na Nog.

OK, that's the basic history and layout of things... Now for the questions...

>what are immortals?
>
Immortals are elves taht have been around since the last time the Magic was
here, aka Earthdawn. There are a few of these running around in SR.
Harlequin, from Harley's Game, is one of them, and is one that meddles in
the affairs of "mortals" quite frequently. However, the fact that theya re
Immortal isn;t a publicly known fact. In fact, just about no one knows
it...:]

>why is lofwyr so prevalent?
>
Dragons aren;t your typical monsters they are from AD&D or other games.
They're very intelligent, very rich, and VERY powerful. One Dragon,
Dunkelzahn, had his own TV show and even ran for President of teh UCAS. He
won, but was immediately assasinated. By what, no one knows yet.

Lofwyr is another Great Dragon, and he owns one of the largest
Corporations, Saeder-Krupp. He's also famous for being very ruthless.

>what are physical adepts?
>
Physical Adepts are people who, through magic, get enhanced physical
abilities. Tehy're faster, stronger, etc. Think of them as your typical
Street Fighter character.

>what is UCAS?
>
I answered that above...;]

>just some background questions.
>
No problem... Some of this can be a bit overwhelming if you aren;t
familiar with the SR world...:]
