I was thinking about the Heavy Armor Full question, and this is how me and
my group have been playing it.

-----------------
Heavy Armor (Full)
Gear (Armor)

User receives Armor + 2.
Trash Heavy Armor (Full) to avoid all damage taken in combat.
-----------------

Let's use the earlier example of Kromagnus (a 6/7 troll-rocker). Kromagnus
is given Heavy Armor Full and goes on a run. In the course of the run a
challence is faced that distributes some amount of damage (let's say 15
points). The way I have understood, Heavy Armor to work is like this:

1) Heavy armor does NOT allow you to assign all damage received in a given
challenge to the runner with the Armor (say all 15 points of damage to the
above described Kromagnus). Heavy Armor still obeys the normal rules of
damage distribution (ie - you cannot apply more damage to a target than he
can take).

2) Since you can assign as much damage to a character as his armor and body
allow (unless another card alters that such as the challenge Manticore), you
should be able to assign 9 points of damage to Kromagnus before discarding
the armor (2 for the armor + 7 for body = 9 points). This will not kill
Kromagnus. I believe this for two reasons:

a) You can always assign up to the maximum amount of damage to a
runner (maximum meaning enough to kill that runner) and the runner
will not die until after the damage distribution phase has passed.

b) The card says "avoid", to me this means that at the same time the
damage is applied, the card is trashed (if you are trashing it to
avoid damage).

Using this logic it seems to me that the the runner Kromagnus described
above can take the 9 points of damage (enough to kill him), discrad the card
to "avoid" the damage during the damage distribution phase, and come out of
the combat unscathed. :)

This card bears similarities in many ways to the timing of Stim Patch. Stim
Patch can also be used in the midst of the damage distribution phase (ie - a
character reduced to 0 body or below can sacrifice the patch to heal
themselves).

I'm curious to find out if the people on the list and FASA themselves concur
with this perception of the card's usage.

Later. :)
