I don't think that this is correct. In my group we have never
forced a runner to turn when gear is deployed on him. The only time Runners
turn is when Runner A transfers gear to Runner B, in that case both turn.
The rulebook says, "Gear cards are played on Runners and may be used
immediately." (Shadowrun rulebook p.53) Since Gear cards can be used
immediately (and since a turned Runner cannot use a gear card), I infer that
this means that granting gear to a Runner doesn't turn them. :)

In other news, me and my group got into a slight dispute the other
day concerning Renraku and Maglocks. Renraku states, "Roll D6 whenever an
Electrical Challenge is revealed. On 4+, that Challenge may not be sleazed
this turn." Maglocks says, ". . . To sleaze Maglocks, shadowrunning player
must guess the number on D6."

Now, I know that this seems pretty straightforward, Maglocks can't
be sleazed. Unfortunately this means that Maglocks as a Challenge is
unpassable on a roll of 4+! In the case of all other Electrical Challenges
in the game a failure to sleaze results in some sort of combat or effect but
the card can still be bypassed. Maglocks however can only be sleazed, that
is the only way to pass it. My group and I debated this one for a while.
My stance was this: Renraku is referring to cards that require a sleaze
skill requirement, on the roll of 4+, they cannot be sleazed. Cards such as
Maglocks however are immune to this effect since it is not a series of
skills that allow one to sleaze the card but a guess based off the rules of
the card text. I can see both sides of the issue and my group concurred at
the end that it seemed a little ridiculous that Maglocks was unpassable on a
roll of 4+, so what we did was kill all Technical bonuses. You get one
guess only against maglocks on a roll of 4+ (even if Fastjack is on the
run). This worked to settle the dispute, but we still want to know if there
is some kind of authoritative answer to this problem as well as what you all
think.

Thanks.
