Amazing what a pumped-up Fusion Gate can do, huh? (Gotta love
Crossfires!)
The damage specifies a Runner -- you can't send the City Spirit crashing
through the gate to suck up the juice. This is clarified in the FAQ 2.0
(at http://www.FASA.com/ ).
Fusion Gate (and Electrified Fence) are pretty easy: You either sleaze
the Challenge or you don't. If you don't, you take damage, then enter
combat. (Under *most* situations, Fusion Gate won't deal extra damage.
Dealing the damage first does make it a tougher Challenge to trash.....)

Yup. Cards that read "Runner takes x damage" must target a Runner card
-- and Spirits and Droens are both Gear cards, not Runner cards.
