The PRC-44b Yellowjacket in Shadowrun (RPG) actually started out as one
of the weakest vehicles -- the PRC-42b, with its might 1 Body, could
easily be downed by a pistol-shot. It was upgraded once - in the
Rigger's Black Book, to the PRC-44b - but still sucked so badly that a
new variant, the PRC-44f, was unleashed in Fields of Fire. The PRC-44f
finally approaches a decent level of Body and Armor... about as much,
it occurs, as your average PC has.
This isn't about the Yellowjacket.
The "other" helicopter of choice in SR:RPG always seems to be the ARES
Dragon -- modularized, it can hold different compartments to suit
varying needs: cargo-lifter, commuter "airbus", or troop transport/air
support. Double-rotor power guarantees lift on the largest of loads,
while armor plate ensures the safety of your cargo, whatever its
nature. Thus:
ARES Dragon
Type: Gear (Vehicle/Helicopter). Outdoor.
Cost: 6Y
Text: +4/0 (A2) to user. User may not use skills to sleaze Challenges
while ARES Dragon is being used. 3Y: (A2) to present Runner. This
Runner may not use skills to sleaze Challenges while receiving this
benefit.
Oh, one other comment.. having looked over the RBB once again, has
anyone noticed how different - both picturewise and combat-capacity-wise
-- the Doberman Patrol Vehicle is in the RPG and in the CCG?
