I know this is a bit off-topic, but:

Where did you get this info from? WotC? As I understand it, Gen Con is
being moved from MECCA to a new facility next door (it was under
construction last year) and will be run by WotC and Andon. According to
WotC, the price increase (which is a huge one, if I remember correctly)
is due to an incraese in the price of the facility. However, consider
this: it's a new facility. It may not be completed by Gen Con. The Con
is being run by a new company and a company (Andon) with little or no
experience running a Con of this size. Given the variables, is the
substantial price increase reasonable? I doubt it.

I suspect WotC raised the price higher than was necessary to cover the
expense of the new facility and if they didn't—well, then they did a
poor job of negotiating for the facility. Gen Con is the biggest con in
Milwaukee. I'm sure the city wants that business and I think that WotC
could have negotiated a better deal (if, indeed, your info about the
price increase is true).

Anyway, that's my 2 cents… but I think WotC's an evil, money-grubbing
megacorp, so I'm biased!
