My impression is that any Gear (or special ability) that affects a
shadowrun needs to be used by someone present or assisting with that
shadowrun. Razorback, for example, can't play martyr in the safehouse
to get the gang past the security guards. (This isn't a hard and fast
rule; there may be a card intended to do exactly this.)

Pretty much, a decker assisting in the shadowrun would turn the program,
and then it acts like a Steamroller without the die rolls.

(IMO, Crash isn't worth the four extra Y, except against a dedicated
R3-type deck.)
