I don't see collusion as too large of a problem; keep people rotating
through different sets, so that any two people play together only once
or twice; shouldn't be a problem. Anticollusion rules can be pretty
nettlesome, so I don't think they're entirely warranted.
Most important, of course, only one player gets the number one spot.
Make the prize an item that can't easily be split up, and .. voila.
Of course, teams of players may probably form within each individual
game, but that isn't entirely an evil thing.
