I'm also sending this to the DLOH's for their response, and an attempt to
settle the confusion.
Say an Objective that's on the table is Roboplant Revolt: +1/+0 to Electrical
Challenges. Roll D6 after each Electrical Challenge defeated in combat on this
Objective. On 5+, the Runner team must immediately fight that Challenge again.
In running on R-plant, your team encounters either Fusion Gate or Electric
Fence. Thanx to an opponent's Whoops, you fail to sleaze and get zotted for
the specified damage per the card text. Electrified Fence: If alarm is
triggered, target Runner takes 3 damage. Fusion Gate: If Runner team fails to
sleaze Fusion Gate, the Runners present take 5 damage. The owner of Fusion
Gate chooses how to divide the damage.
After losing a Loki to electrical convulsions, your remaining crews pounds
past the electrical barrier. Per the Objective, you then roll a d6 for a 5 and
the Challenge returns to face you.
My question is is you opponent gets to distribute another 3 or 5 points of
damage amongst your hapless adventures all over again.
I've encountered two camps on this in our group:
One side says no, the damage is from cards text and occurs only the Challenge
is first encountered and the skill sleaze requirement is not (or cannot) be
met. This group argues that the threat rating, as listed in the lower right
corner, is what's involved in combat. As written, it is either a 0/10 (A1) or
0/10 (A2). The damage comes from specified card text scenerios and thus does
not get delivered a second time when you must immediately fight the Challenge
again. This group argues the semantics of "facing" the Challenge and
"fighting" the Challenge as R-plant reads.
The second camp argues that if you fought it the first time, then the alarm
has been triggered. Thus when you face it the second time, per card text
you're valid for a second shocking.
Which is it?
