It's an easy defense against a deck that relies heavily on the Z-zone,
Time-Delayed Bombs, In-fighting and similar cards: since your Runners
are camping out at the hotel, they're not in the safehouse to be
targeted by those effects.
It also works well with Mafia decks (must be a real estate scam): drop
four Coffin Hotels into play for free, and watch your take from a
Shakedown go up!
It does mean giving something up: for all its defensive value, it means
you can't visit any other Locations, and it also means goodies like the
Bulldog Van won't help you. (Kham *will* aid Orks present with him at
the hotel though. Guru point to the first person to name Kham and Co.'s
doss in _Never Trust and Elf_.)
