Long, long ago, FanPro decided to release a number of German-only promos
without consulting FASA on their validity (and, as it happened, most of
them tended to be overbuff). The official word I received in December
was that the German cards weren't actually SRTCG cards. Alien
imposters, something like that.
At any rate, FanPro *does* have an excellent tourney system, so it's
kept the card in demand (and overseas sales rolling) and apparently,
tamed the card to something more in line with FASA's idea of game
balance. I've seen the card text (not the real thing - trade?) and,
frankly, it was a munchkin idea.
The American tourney system has been a little .. sluggish in getting
started (I have to commune with Bull after Origins and see how things
went) but there are things in the making. Gencon should definitely
prove interesting, as the game enters its second year.
