I will agree that continuous and/or competitive play directly out of a
starter deck will not work. If you and your opponent(s) both have them,
then your okay. But, to fine tune your deck, you will have to buy packs
or single cards. Now, one of the best playing games direct out of the
starter is Netrunner. It involved double decks, one for the Corp side and
one for the Runner side. Both played very well in that limited format.
The bottom line is, if you want casual play and just for fun, your starter
is fine. For competitive play and for better chances of winning, you will
need to buy more cards.
