report of the first ever FASA Sponsored SRTCG Tourney:
Broken.
One card we all missed that made a HUGE difference in this tourney style,
since it's a timed game and not played to a set number of points, was Media
Chick.
The games were played for 45 minutes, and you accumulated your points over
three rounds. At the end of the three rounds, it was very easy to see
which of the 5 (of 16) players got Media Chick: They were the ones with
300+ points. Everyone else was hovering around 150-200, with a winner
having a whopping 895 points total!!!!!
Other than that, I got some really good response to the tourney style, and
everyone seemed to have a blast.
The prize wasa complete set of Underworld, along with a bunch of 1st run,
Underworld, and poromos from both that were signed by the artists, and a
small storage box (Justa cardboard one) that was all done up by Mike
"Skuzzy" Nielson (aka DLOH) with pictures drawn all over it... I
especially liked the Adam + Cherry in a heart, and the wanted poster for
Skwark :]
However, one thing... It looks like they are working on a completely
revised set of rules for tourney formats. I was given a set of rules that
I decided not to use because I wasn;t familiar with them and liked the
other set better, but they are apparently the next batch that was getting
worked on...
ANyways, for next year, if that format gets used again, Media Chick needs
to be limited to a single use per turn. being able to use her multiple
times is just asking for trouble...
BTW: Matt... I have that list... 10 people signed up for the PRA, so
I'll get that to you tonight when I get home :]
