Here's the sequence of events..

- On your shadowrun phase, your Runner team scores an Objective (you
hope!) The Objective goes into your Reputation pile, and, for the
moment, the owner of the Objective does *not* have an Objective in
play. (He has one on top of his Objective pile, though, where it can be
peeked at through Evaluate).

Because the Objective hasn't been pulled off the pile yet, no Challenges
can be played on it. This may be vital in the use of Redirect
Datatrail, among several effects.

- At the beginning of your next turn, you take the top card of your
Objective pile and put it into play, face down. You then move through
your Credstick and Refresh phases, and, at any time during your Legwork
phase, you can play Challenges on your Challenge stack to defend it, up
to the legal number determined by the number of players in the game.

- During your opponent's next Legwork phase, he can play Challenges on
his own Challenge stack defending that Objective.

- After all your opponents have taken their turns, you begin your next
turn. At the beginning, you reveal the Objective you pulled off at the
beginning of this sequence. Once the Objective is revealed, any player
can attempt a shadowrun against it.

There are no deleterious effects to not having Challenges defending
Objectives, except they're a lot easier to score that way -- unless, of
course, you want to intercept, which you can *only* do if you have no
Challenges defending.

A lot of players exclude the intermediary steps -- once an Objective is
scored, the next one comes immediately into play. This helps to speed
up the game (since you can immediately toss Challenges onto it, and so
draw new cards to replace them) but also means that it's more likely
there'll be less Challenges defending the Objectives.
