I don't think PIs regularly get involved with police cases (only in the
movies). I think they get more cases like spying on cheating spouses,
finding missing items, tracking down missing persons, etc., things the
police don't normally have time or inclination to do. I would think a PI's
cases rarely end in someone being arrested.
