Seems to me like they are saying the same thing. As such, Uncle Joe
has a Chipjack 2. Chipjack 2 says -2 essence. Uncle Joe has -2 essence.

Like Puckstpr said...and if you've never seen a Chipjack 2 card where do you
find out that it has a essence cost of 2. I think if they wanted to hinder
poor old Joe they'd have put it in his text....where you find all bonuses and
faults
