Actually, I don't see that as being the reason magic is waning.
From what I've seen, having played the game since it started, more
or less, is the focus of the game has changed.
It used to be you could go out and play friendly games or even
enter a tournament for the chance of winning some cards and have
fun.
Now you can't find friendly games that are actually friendly and
don't even think you can go to a tournament and have fun. With
the large amount of money the cards are worth and the pro tour,
players are into the money and not having fun.
I don't play magic as much anymore (actually played the last few
weeks...first time in months) Got tired of the rude overcompetative
kids ruining my fun.
