What irritates you the most about playing SRTCG in public places?

To get things back to a relevant matter ( Yes the info about the new list was
fine, but the rest is boring. ) I have had a couple problems that some of you
may have had, but also some may be guilty of. Some of you may think that this
is stupid, but I actually got my mom into SRTCG and when she seemed interested
I let her have half my cards, which were still unopened Starters. The thing
is while we were at a local con we were playing maybe her fifth game ever and
a "pro" saw us playing and started pointing out each of our mistakes. While I
must admit that I did miss a few important rules, the constant berrating was
pissing us both off. It almost drove her away from the game until I assured
her that no she would never have to play someone like that. Everyone has
"house rules", I just hate when someone watches over your shoulder and points
things out.

As for ye ole Magic, I played for awhile........ alright from Beta on up to
Dark, but that's not the point. Now when I say I used to play, I don't mean
like I do with SRTCG now. More like there was a weekly tournament, and that
get's boring in and of itself. Now, recently I went into the shop that used
to run the tournaments because I knew that almost any type of card gamer hangs
out for the weekly tournaments hoping for a game of their choice. I dropped
in and set up my Shadowrun deck and kinda sat around. Finally I noticed
another player looking at the starters for it and she bought three, and then
sat over in a corner looking through them. Another player seemed to notice
her as well, as while I was giving her a chance to look through her cards he
went over and and challenged her right away. Needless to say he trounced her
because she didn't get the chance to read the texts and the RBT. I later saw
her cards as up for sale at discount prices. Seems some people think that
winning and stomping someone ( read: some people's egos ) are more important
to them than new players.

MY biggest problem with public games though is people who ask me to teach them
while I am in the middle of runner to runner combat. I am more than happy to
teach it, I even took a job at Gencon with the FASA booth to help out, but I
hate it when they ask right in the middle of the game and actually expect you
to stop and show them right then. This is rather irritating, but even more so
when they are not interested in actually learning, but, as was already stated
in a previous mailing, just to ask what the hell you are doing. They are
interested in knowing what you are doing, but not in knowing "what you are
doing". Anyway, my tirads. Next!
