The next net.release is Street Life, and was originally intended to tie
in with the upcoming Seattle 2 Sourcebook for the roleplaying game.
Street Life deals with areas Underworld overlooks; it covers a lot of
political aspects, meaning lots of multiplayer things to do.
Street Life introduces a number of new mechanics to the game. Among
these are several new Runner traits I mentioned on the list some time
ago (Commando and Influence; there may be one other) as well as a new
card type -- Districts, which are similar to Locations; their influence
on the game affects all players equally, however.
Street Life also debuts a new Runner type, Smugglers. These guys can do
everything 'normal' Runners can do, with a few added twists; if they're
carrying Contraband (gear) on a shadowrun, they can score a bonus for
themselves - sometimes depending on the Runner, sometimes on the
Objective. There'll also be a lot of Specials that boost Runners with a
particular skill, and some Specials that require you to use large
numbers of Runners to achieve a particular effect. (I'm talking hordes,
city populations of Runners.)
Street Life is open to submissions. There is a particular theme, and a
particular quality I look for in accepting cards; I plan on being a
little more, ah, communicative about changes I might make than I was
with AEX.
What next? I do have thoughts (but no real cards written) for an
expansion called Seattle By Gaslight, that works heavily with Detectives
and Lone Star cards. Not much plans outside of that -- except that I'd
like to give Deckers a few other things to do in the game besides look
at Challenges and grub money.
