Ok all, I got RA:S, havent finished reading it yet, but I'v been thinking
alot about my story, and how to tie it in with all of yours, especially the
Shadow team. I ran into a problem that this guy would probably be an
antisocial jerk and wouldn't much care for human contact right about now.
Following the shadow team around wouldn't be myuch fun plotwise, What i was
thinking to spice u the storyline was this:

He was one of the corps HMHVV carriers, he made a deal with Deus, Deus would
release him, and he could do what he willed, so long as he created X number
of vampires/banshees/etc and left them in the constructs clutches. Deus
wanted this woman to be one of the ones turned. Bad things happen to him if
he doesn't do it. If he does it, Deus helps him find/turns over his brother,
unharmed, unchanged. If he doesn't do it, Deus has his brother... (Or so he
claims)
I'm not sure if your planning to have her in Deus' clutches (In which
case this whole plot is moot) or wandering the arc relatively free. If its
the latter though, he's stalking, preparing to hit her whe the shadow team
hits. Maybe thats how they looseone of theirs, he has the element of
surprise and gets first blood, then either he's splattered all over the next
wall or is driven back...

Better yet, maybe he completes his mission, just as the Shadow team bursts
into the room...

I'd like your thoughts on this so that I can continue it...

Okay, I was going to stay out of this and let you guys plan it, but a
couple of things have come to my attention that you need to know.

At first when I started reading this I started going *shock! horror!*
"This ain't gonna work!" Now, though, after a bit of reflection...

Muahahahahah...and all that. :)

Seriously, though, this sounds like you're going to do it a bit
differently to before and you'll need the vampire awake, rather than in
cryogenic suspension or the like (actually, the best way to keep a vamp
dormant is to submerge him, if you need some ideas). Anyway, I DON'T
think he'd deal directly with Deus - or at least, he wouldn't know it.
He's more likely to be locked up somewhere and encounter some of the
Blues. He promises to do anything for them if they let him out. The
Blues consult Deus. Deus looks through his records and realises this
guy's a vampire. He thinks some HMHVV-positive subjects could be
interesting to play with. He also finds the data on the guy's brother
while he's searching. So he tells the Blues to make the deal - they let
the vamp out and give him back his brother, but only after the vamp's
infected (so many) people and handed them over to the Blues. Deal.
Meanwhile, the vamp doesn't know much of what's going on and certainly
doesn't know he's working for Deus, although he'll probably figure that
out later.

Is that how you were thinking of doing it, or did you have a different
idea?

> I'm not sure if your planning to have her in Deus' clutches (In
which case this whole plot is moot)

She is - but there are ways around that problem.

> or wandering the arc relatively free. If its the latter though, he's

Okay, here's my solution. DON'T have Deus specify people, except in the
most general terms ("I want 3 caucasian women, 3 caucasian men, 3
black..." etc. etc.). The vamp happens on one of the teams in his
search - or on his way to the zombie rooms to infect people or whatever
- and sees a promising candidate. He stalks them for a while and
strikes at a dramatically appropriate moment.

That gets back to the "following the team" thing a bit, but not so much
and the motivation is extremely different.

How does that strike you?

No, thats pretty much it... I didn't mean deal directly, but dealing with.
The way I understand it the blues are part of deus...sorta.

Maybe he does want her turned, or better yet (Star wars music) alters the
deal after the shadow team nabs her, get her back, I don't care how. And
infect her while your at it." Sorta thing. Again we'v got that element of
surprise, maybe someone looses a throat to fang and claw, he gets her, gets
away, thinks he's safe so proceeds to stage 2, infection. ::Shrugs:: I just
think it would be an interesting moral dilema to put her brother through.
Kill him, no question,b ut kill his own sister? hehe... <eg>

Not exactly part of, but they can communicate pretty much constantly
and I believe Deus can directly control them (as per drones) if
necessary - the latter may be incorrect.

The difficulty is with timing. The shadow team will only free their
target in the last story - and are then supposed to escape with her.
It'd be difficult to work in the vamp attack after that.

On the other hand...okay, I can see three ways around this.

The vamp goes after a teammember. He grabs her, infects her and they
have the moral dilemma - but it's kill a good friend, not kill his
sister. My second favourite.

The vamp DOES grab her after they free her, but doesn't get the chance
to turn her (because we don't have time for that! :) ). Instead, the
team chases him down and splatters him, then gets out. My least
favourite.

The vamp isn't after the sister - he's after Vanessa Cliber! That way
you get all your stalking fun (as Cliber is in the custody of the
Renraku team through most of the story) - the only thing is you miss
out on the moral dilemma. This is my favourite, but you may disagree.
Anyway, a bit of elaboration. Deus does the deal, vamp starts infecting
people. Then, near the end of the story (and the book, for that matter)
Deus finds out that the Renraku team has Cliber. He sicks the vamp on
them - he doesn't want Cliber being a vampire, but he does want her.
Anyway, the vamp stalks them and finds them at some stage. Then there's
the big dust up between the resistance-reinforce UCAS team, the Renraku
team and Deus' people (and the shadow team too, if we can work them
in). In the middle of all this, the vamp grabs Cliber and disappears.
The core threads are resolved in one way or another. Then we have a
little epilogue with the vamp wondering what he can get for Cliber - or
what he should do with her. And we leave things hanging just a
tad...the end.

Okay, so I like that idea. :)

Naw...Blues are basically cybered-grunts brainwashed to be totally
loyal to Deus. but some of the cyber-grear they have allows Deus to see and
hear through their cyber eyes and ears and occasionally take them over like a
rigger using drones.

Ok, point 1, I thought that the Cliber was the sister of the head of the
shadow team? I'm not sure what your meaning by the suggestion of the vamp
going after a team member... to infect them/ My idea was that they have
Cliber/or his target, whoever they may be, or he perceives them to have her.
Problem is that the way i have this character laid out, if Deus doesn't say
I want her, he would go to someone else, easier targets. If deus said her,
he would go for her...

I'll continue more leater, got work

No, Cliber is Dr. Vanessa Cliber, who's the target of the Renraku and
UCAS teams. I see your point, but get back to us about my idea now you
know exactly who Cliber is.
