This makes me glad...:)

Which reminds me - I have a question.

Has anyone played/run adventures to do with the Arcology Shutdown - and
if so, how did you infiltrate the Arcology?

More musings on the topic will follow...

> Thanks. I'll be picking it up today, then. I'll have my topic for you
tomorrow. When is the deadline for signing up for topics? (I work at a
newspaper, so I kinda have a small (very, very small) idea of how
publishing works. Oh, I'll proofread stories if you want me to. That's
what I do.)

No deadlines yet. First things first - we need to get enough
expressions of interest. I'm hoping for at least ten people to join up
for this. Multiple submissions will be fine, but I'd like to have a
range of authors first.

At the very least, even if you don't want to write, or don't feel
confident writing, you're welcome to help with planning, ideas or
whatever.

Strago - help in proofreading/editing will be very welcome. I've done
it before and I'm pretty good at it, but I have my limits - and my
blind spots. :)

Anyway, as I just said, more musings will follow...

Count me in Doc'. I've been brooding around trying to think of
something to write, and you piqued my interest with this.

Although I haven't gotten RA:S yet, I think the half-formed story in
my head won't be too affected by my lack of it.

That's fine, Kismet, although if you feel inspired, you're welcome to
try your hand at writing.

> The team was sent in to help get people out (big surprise I know).
Specifically, the team is sent in by the military to get Governor
Shultz and some of the bigwigs out.
<Snip>

*lol* Funny, this was one of the ones I'd been considering.

Okay, while it's an interesting premise, I think it's a bit restrictive
- it'd make things too hard for the writers themselves. On the other
hand, it's an interesting idea and this isn't a dictatorship. That's my
opinion - if the rest of you who want to get involved like the idea,
speak up. Anyway can you give us that additional data (Deus' motives
etc.), Kismet?

Anyway, I've been thinking about this myself. What we need is a core
plotline that the other subplots can be built off and around. My idea
was that someone (Renraku or the UCAS military most likely) was sending
in a team to retrieve NOT the bigwigs, but people who might know what
was going on and how to end the problem. To wit, Dr. Vanessa Cliber,
plus anyone else she deems vital.

The team goes in and pretty much gets shredded by Deus' drones and
people. Only one (or two) get away and then they bump into the
resistance...

The core story would involve the quest to get Cliber and other people
(Devon Eurich, perhaps?) who might know enough to stop Deus out of the
Arcology - although the object of the quest might change as the stories
progress.

Anyway, the subplots could involve anything and anyone in - or out of,
for that matter - the Arcology, so long as they in some way involved
the core story, and, preferably, forwarded it in some way.

I'd like to do the beginning story where the team infiltrates the
Arcology, but that's just me. :)

Anyway, so that's my idea for the core plotline. Any feedback? Any
other ideas?

One thing to remember - if we want a chance of getting this published,
we CAN'T have our stories ending the threat of Deus or even the
occupation of the Arcology (yes, those two things CAN be mutually
exclusive) - not unless we get permission from the boys at FASA.
Personally, I'd like to present this to them as a fait accompli, all
wrapped up and ready to go. If you guys think going to them with a
summary of the plan etc. is a better idea, though, then speak up! :)

Okay, that's probably all for today. Just a note - if you're on this
list but not on ShadowRN, I've advertised there to get data/ideas/other
writers. I've also piqued the interest of a Shadowrunning buddy of mine
who IS a published author (her first book comes out later this year, I believe).

Welcome to the planning crew, Kismet. :)

Okay, peeps, I lied before. Got something more to add.

See, I was thinking - why not be ambitious? Instead of one core story,
why not have two? The two stories would start off separate and could
either meet and diverge (the characters bumping into each other,
working together, then splitting again) or meet at or near the end (the
characters from the two storylines joining up and escaping together or
something like that).

I had two possible ideas for this. The first one, which I haven't
fleshed out, would involve the Resistance, or a particular person/s
inside the Arcology who've been hiding out or something like that.

The second one would involve a second team penetrating the Arcology for
different goals than the first. I was thinking that the second team
could be a shadow team. They're going in to rescue a close
friend/relative/lover of one of the teammembers who was trapped inside.
This team would have better luck than the other, with most members
surviving. Finding the rescuee is optional, depending on the tone we
want. The rescue of this person would lighten the tone somewhat (a bit
of triumph at the end). On the other hand, if we want dark and gloomy,
they could never find this person, or find him/her dead. Or, if we want
to be really nasty, we could have them find this person - but he/she's
been experimented on to a really awful extent and the team has to
decide whether to bring him/her out in the hopes of restoring his/her
body and mind, or put him/her out of his/her misery.

Comments?

These are the locations for the "lost" chapters from RA:S.

I
suspect that this may have been one big chapter at one time, as it
looks like parts of the opening paragraph were recycled from the
cut-out "Ork Underground" chapter and used to open "Rats in the
Walls".

Comments?

'Fraid not.

Guys, forgive my OWN tardiness, but I've had a lot of things on my plate of
late.

What I've been doing with the RA:S project is trying to get my story done
for you guys to have a look at. You may have noticed me asking questions on
the ShadowRN list about that. Haven't had much luck yet. My brother getting
married and me being the best man doesn't leave me a lot of time atm. :)

Anyway, I HAVE noticed a distinct lack of enthusiasm lately for the project.
I mean, I put out TWO updates asking for you guys to let me know where you
were up to - and I got ONE response from the lot of you.

So could everyone let me know ASAP a) if you're still interested in the
project, and b) if so, where you're up to.

Please?

Still interested, but stalled. First my computer took a nosedive for
two weeks, then I got stuck on chapter 2 (echhh). However, nothing
gets work done better than persistence, so I make this solemn vow...a
new part of the tale (or two) by Saturday night. You'll see it, or my
