People,

Here's the data on the UCAS team characters as I've envisioned them. I
WANT comments. I WANT suggestions. Or, if you like them as they are,
just say so.

A note - I haven't gone into a lot of detail on gear and such - that
should really take second place to the important stuff IMO. But, again,
suggestions are welcome.

Also, the metamagic abilities of the two magical characters and the
spells of the mage are sorta unfinished. That's because GreyWolf has
borrowed my copy of MitS. So any spell or metamagical ability
suggestions are ALSO welcome. Oh - spell force isn't listed. I'd say
that this is a powerful team, so the mage has them at pretty much any
force required.

Finally, I've given each skill a rating - for the skill level
equivalents of those ratings, look at this list.

Skill Levels:
Excellent – 9 to 10
Great – 7 to 8
Good – 5 to 6
Fair – 3 to 4

Characters:
Name: Richard Blaine
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker One
Position: Team leader/electronics expert (adept)
Rank: Captain
Skills: Assault Rifle (Great), Athletics (Great), Biotech (Fair),
Computer (Fair), Edged Weapons (Knife) (Good/Great), Electronics
(Great), Electronics (B/R) (Good), Leadership (Great), Pistol (Good),
SMG (Excellent), Stealth (Excellent), Unarmed Combat (Excellent)
Know. Skills: Small Unit Tactics (Great)
Metamagic: Centering (various, inc. Athletics/Stealth, Melee and
Ranged), Masking
Bioware: Trauma Damper
Cyberware: Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision Magnification (3), Flare
Compensation, Rangefinder), Internal Air Tank, Smartlink II
Powers: Improved Athletics (3), Improved Quickness (4), Improved
Reflexes (3), Improved SMG (3), Improved Senses (Hearing Amplification,
Low-Light, Sound Dampening, Thermographic), Improved Stealth (5),
Improved Strength (4), Improved Unarmed Combat (2), Killing Hands (M),
Smashing Blow, Traceless Walk
Desc/Per: Richard is a rather unprepossessing-looking man. Handsome in
an unremarkable kind of way, his short, straight light brown hair and
hazel eyes would never mark him out in a crowd. At 5’8" (173cm) and
172lbs (78kg), he’s very near the average of human height, although
he’s somewhat more muscular than average, a further mark of
‘ordinariness’, making him extremely easy to underestimate. His
movements are quick, precise and powerful, the only thing that seems to
set him apart from anyone else.
Richard is calm and professional. He can be quiet sometimes, but that
is more a mark of a contemplative nature than of an introvert. He has
an easy camaraderie with his team, having earned their trust and
respect, but he is not particularly close to any of them. He holds
himself slightly apart, partly in his role as their commander, partly
to prevent him being hurt when he looses a teammate. He leads quietly,
but purposefully and his team follows him without hesitation.

Name: Cecilie (sp?) Cameron (Cammie)
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Callsign: Striker Two
Position: Mage
Rank: Lieutenant
Skills: Athletics (Fair), Aura Reading (Great), Biotech (Fair),
Computer (Fair), Conjuring (Excellent), Edged Weapons (Knife)
(Good/Great), Pistol (Good), SMG (Great), Sorcery (Excellent), Stealth
(Great), Unarmed Combat (Fair)
Metamagic: Centering, Masking, Quickening, Shielding (plus others)
Bioware: Trauma Damper
Cyberware: Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision Magnification (3), Flare
Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder, Thermographic), Internal Air
Tank, Smartlink II
Spells: Acid Stream, Analyse Device, Analyse Truth, Antidote, Armour,
Astral Barrier, Ball Lightning, Chaotic World, Clairaudience,
Clairvoyance, Combat Sense, Death Touch, Detect Enemies, Detect
Individual, Fireball, Heal, Improved Invisibility, Increase Reflexes
(3), Levitate, Manaball, Physical Barrier, Power Bolt, Stealth,
Stunball,
Desc/Per: Cammie is the archetypal tall, willowy blonde. Standing 6’2"
(188cm) in height, she weighs a mere 146lbs (66kg). Slim, small-busted
and leggy, she is almost a typical elven beauty. Her high cheekbones
and angular chin give her an almost triangular face. Her full lips and
sparkling green eyes add to a stunning smile. Her wavy, honey-blond
hair frames her face and hangs to her shoulders, although she ties it
back on missions.
Cammie usually seems prim and proper, looking down her pert nose at
Michael and Billy’s boisterous behaviour. On a mission, however, her
true nature comes out. She is very concerned and solicitous of her
teammates and will often push herself just that little bit further to
safeguard or heal her companions. She is content to remain in the
background until her particular expertise is needed, but when magic is
required, she steps to the fore and does her job quickly and
professionally – when she is done, however, she relinquishes the
limelight almost gratefully.

Name: Thomas Charles
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker Three
Position: Combat specialist/medic
Rank: Sergeant
Skills: Assault Rifle (Good), Athletics (Fair), Biotech (Excellent),
Computer (Fair), Edged Weapons (Knife) (Good/Great), Pistol (Good), SMG
(Great), Stealth (Great), Unarmed Combat (Great)
Bioware: Enhanced Articulation, Muscle Augmentation (3), Nephritic
Screen, Orthoskin (2), Pathogenic Defence (4), Platelet Factory,
Synthacardium (2), Toxin Extractor (4), Tracheal Filter (4), Trauma
Damper
Cyberware: Bone Lacing (Aluminium), Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision
Magnification (3), Flare Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder,
Thermographic), Internal Air Tank, Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit
HD VI, Subdermal Speakers, Subvocal Microphone), Smartlink II, Wired
Reflexes (2)
Desc/Per: Like Richard, Thomas is a rather ‘average’ man. Unlike
Richard, this has little to do with his appearance and everything to do
with his nature. Thomas is extremely quiet and withdrawn, slipping into
the background at every opportunity. Like Cammie, Thomas will perform
his job when required, but does so without any fanfare. The only time
he has been known to draw attention to himself is when a teammate has
been injured and only his skill as a combat medic stands between them
and death. Oddly enough, he enjoys company – however the fact of its
existence seems to be enough for him. He’ll sit with Michael and Billy
in a bar and almost never say a word.
Thomas is slightly smaller than Cammie, standing 6’1" (185.5cm) in
height. As would be expected, however, he is much more bulky and
muscular than the elf woman, weighing 192lbs (87kg). He wears his
curly, dark brown hair in a buzz-cut and his blue eyes are surprisingly
lively. His strong, square face is rather plain, but he has a very
appealing smile. His skin is a light, chocolaty brown, a mark of his
African heritage.

Name: Michael Blakemore
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker Four
Position: Combat specialist/decker
Rank: Sergeant
Skills: Athletics (Fair), Biotech (Fair), Computer (Excellent),
Cyber-Implant Combat (Cyberspurs) (Good/Great), Edged Weapons (Knife)
(Good/Great), Pistol (Good), Shotgun (Good) SMG (Great), Stealth
(Great)
Bioware: Enhanced Articulation, Nephritic Screen, Orthoskin (2),
Pathogenic Defence (4), Platelet Factory, Synthacardium (2), Toxin
Extractor (4), Tracheal Filter (4), Trauma Damper
Cyberware: Cyberarms (2) (w/Cyberdeck (L), Cybergun (Shotgun) (R),
Cyberspur (L/R), Gyromount (R), Magnetic System, Quickness (3),
Smartlink II (R), Strength (3)) Cybereyes (w/Flare Compensation,
Low-Light, Rangefinder, Thermographic), Datajack (4), Internal Air
Tank, Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit HD VI, Subdermal Speakers,
Subvocal Microphone), Wired Reflexes (2)
Desc/Per: Like Billy, Michael is a ‘typical’ army grunt – boisterous,
excitable, heavy-drinking and – normally – fun to be around. Unlike
Billy, Michael has something of a temper. Being in a team with people
who are stronger than he is, who can outfight him and who can perform
magic and rig vehicles has done wonders for his demeanour, however. A
tendency to go wild in combat is one of the only remnants of his
‘angry’ days. A heavy womaniser, he has pursued both Cammie and Marissa
unsuccessfully – but that doesn’t stop him trying. He is loud, big
talking and often sarcastic – but he is also professional and he gets
the job done.
At 6’4" (193cms) and 214lbs (97kgs), Michael is the second largest
person on the team. His black hair is slightly longer than regulations
would normally permit, but he’s in a position to get away with it. An
easy smile and slim, handsome features has made him popular with the
ladies – with some notable exceptions. His grey eyes can be somewhat
unsettling, seeming to almost look right through you.

Name: William (Billy) Hawkins
Gender: Male
Race: Ork
Callsign: Striker Five
Position: Heavy weapons specialist/demolitions expert
Rank: Sergeant
Skills: Assault Rifle (Good), Athletics (Fair), Biotech (Fair),
Computer (Fair), Demolitions (Great), Edged Weapons (Knife)
(Good/Great), Heavy Weapons (Excellent), Laser Weapons (Excellent),
Launch Weapons (Great), Pistol (Good), SMG (Great), Shotgun (Good),
Stealth (Good), Unarmed Combat (Good)
Bioware: Enhanced Articulation, Muscle Augmentation (4), Nephritic
Screen, Orthoskin (2), Pathogenic Defence (4), Platelet Factory,
Synthacardium (2), Toxin Extractor (4), Tracheal Filter (4), Trauma
Damper
Cyberware: Bone Lacing (Titanium), Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision
Magnification (3), Flare Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder,
Thermographic), Internal Air Tank, Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit
HD VI, Subdermal Speakers, Subvocal Microphone), Smartlink II, Wired
Reflexes (2)
Desc/Per: Billy, like Michael, is a very boisterous man - so much so
that the two of hem have become the best of friends, even after Billy
was forced to punch Michael when they first met (Michael was feeling
belligerent). More good-natured and even-tempered than his friend,
Billy acts as a brake on him in socials situations, to an extent. On a
mission, however, Billy is calm and professional - although he can get
somewhat excited when his own particular specialty comes into play. He
loves assault cannons, miniguns and lasers.
Billy is by far the largest member of the team, at 6’7" (201cm) and
252lbs (114kg). Big and muscular even for an ork, his features are
fairly even. Not exactly handsome, he is nevertheless much better
looking that the average (Shadowrun) ork, with tiny tusks and no dermal
build-up or warts or the like. His short hair is a bright, coppery red
and his eyes are blue - although often bloodshot enough to be a match
for his hair.

Name: Marissa Rodriguez
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker Six
Position: Rigger
Rank: Lieutenant
Skills: Biotech (Fair), Car (Excellent), Computer (Drone Programming)
(Good/Excellent), Electronics (Warfare) (Great/Excellent), Gunnery
(Excellent), LTA (Excellent)
Cyberware: Cybereyes (w/Flare Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder,
Thermographic), Datajack (4), Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit HD
VI, Subdermal Speakers, Subvocal Microphone), Smartlink II, Vehicle
Control Rig (3)
Desc/Per: Marissa is a petite, kind woman, caring for her teammates
almost to the exclusion of her own safety. The fact that her job rarely
puts her in danger makes no difference to the others and she is
everybody’s little sister - and everybody’s mother. She performs her
role as scout, sniper and heavy support without hesitation or qualm.
She is usually glad to leave her job behind at the end of the day,
however. Although usually quiet and calm, she can drink and party with
the best of them, and often does.
Marissa has classic Hispanic colouring; long black hair, brown eyes
and tawny skin. Although rather tiny - standing 5’3" (160cm) and
weighing only 114lbs (52kg) - she is rather buxom and curvy. She and
Cammie like to talk about ‘trading’ body parts ("If I had your hair…",
"If I had your figure…"). She is quietly beautiful, making no attempt
to draw attention to herself through clothing or makeup, yet nearly
rivalling Cammie for male attention.

Gear:
Armoured Bodysuits - Black (equivalent of cammo suits from SR3 - 5/3
armour).
Reversible Utility Vests - Black/Urban Cammo (lots of pockets for
holding stuff - standard one is 4/3 armour - Cammie’s is a lighter
version at 3/2).
SMGs (equivalent of HK-227S with full automatic capability and extended
(45 round) clips - APDS ammo standard).
Ares Alpha Combatguns (APDS or EX Exp ammo standard - carried by
Richard and Thomas).
Franchi Spas-22 (EX Exp slug ammo, shot ammo - carried by Michael).
Mk IX Combat Laser (carried by Billy).
Cougar Fineblades - Long (Cammie’s knife is a rating 4/6 stacked
weapon/power focus - the power focus is a finely-worked emerald in the
pommel. Btw, I can’t remember if stacked foci still exist in SR3. Can
someone tell me?).
MGL 6 Grenade Pistols
IPE Minigrenades - Defensive, IR Smoke, Concussion, Gas
Ares Sliverguns
Other miscellaneous gear - pretty much whatever the situation requires.

Drones:
2 Condor II LTAs w/Walther MA2100 sniper rifles mounted - APDS ammo
(thanks to GreyWolf for the inspiration).
2 Steel Lynx w/Heavy Machine Guns - APDS ammo.

Well, what do you think? Speak up!

<a tsunami-sized snip>

It all sounded fine to me, except the drones...Isn't the Condor II a
little big to be taking in hallways and corridors? Isn't the Steel
Lynx a little huge as well? In Fields of Fire, the drawing of the Lynx
indicates it's frickin' big...not the kind of thing that could be
called stealthy. I vote for snoopers, and maybe a doberman (might be
too noisy also), and Ferrets, those surveillance doodads (souped up,
gun-totin' Ferrets!).

I didn't think it was that large, really, but I certainly could be
mistaken.

Good point.

Snoopers?

Okay, I'm not a big rigger person, so I don't know the Doberman's stats
and/or abilities and/or drone-type off hand. Care to explain?

Which is why I like the Condor II.

> and Ferrets, those surveillance doodads (souped up,

Errr...I didn't think Ferrets could TOTE guns. :) Too small. Of course,
it's quite possible I'm mistaken.

Look, I can't do much with drones as GreyWolf has my copy of Rigger 2
right now (does anyone see a pattern here? :) ). Can someone help me
out here? I want two airborne, high stealth drones (like the Condors -
if the Condors aren't too big, we'll stick with those) and two air or
ground-based combat drones - but they should also be fairly quiet.

They're the second entry in the Drone section of SR3; I always
pictured them as remote control cars :) I dunno, maybe they're too
small. Whatever.

Uh, well, I dunno really. I don't have Rigger 2. I'm just tossing
stuff out there. If ?I had my way, there'd be no rigger.

Why is it quiet? Wouldn't those fans be noisy?

Well, it's a story, so you can modify anything, right? Besides, it
specifically says the Ferrets are quiet, and small.

Anyway, someone else who knows about drones should start commenting.

Errr...LTA, Scott, not LAV. The Condor series are hot-air balloons -
well, no, miniature zeppelins, really. They have a huge signature (base
10), which, as far as I know, covers aural sensors as well as visual
ones. IOW, they're quiet. I think. In any case, you could probably
modify them with 'stealth' fans, same way you can stealth a helicopter.

Can someone back me up, or refute me on this?

Okay, yeah, it's a story - but I have to stick with FASA realism. :)

Doberman is a rotodrone... aka rotor blades.. and not quite ehe stealthy
quite thing you seem to be espousing here...

good luck trying to get more than the ammo in.. the ferret doesnt have the
space to carry more.. isnt the sensor package taking up all the room?

Well Soooooooooorrrrry! I gave you the chance to get it back yesterday (and
for that matter you know you just have to ask :P~ besides youre not eh one
playing a rigger right now..)

try the one Im sending you in the email now. Youve seen it before - the
souped up (but still silent) version of the condor II.

A neat trick is you keep a couple of these small drones...strip them
down to only the bare neccessities and pack them full of plastique. Makes
for great kamikaze runs.

I see it as a military thing. You join up, you get the 'ware, whether
you like it or not. They've both only got the bare essentials
(cybereyes with sensory toys, internal airtanks for when you're caught
short, smartlinks for obvious reasons and trauma dampers to keep them
going). Oops - forgot to mention all cyber is betaware, all bio is
cultured. So for those two, it's less that a point of essence loss in
total.

Agreeable? Problematic?

Ah well...betaware and cultured bioware makes more sence. I can't
see any Mage really being forced to undergo the knife...at least I don't see
the military forcing mages...a rare and valuable commodity...to screw with
their ability to do magic.

Problematic. Refer to the novel (Hunter scratches his head as he tries
to remember) Just Compensation. In there it refers to a mage with
glasses. A SF mage with glasses as I recall.

The Steel Lynx could go anywhere a person could, judging by the
drawing in FoF.
Also it is electric and thus pretty quiet. The whole stealth thing is
gonna be blown
when you decide to fire of course.

Condors are a bad idea IMHO. The blimps would be severly limited in
the confines
of the Arc, unless you are planning to invade the shopping mall /
atrium areas.

I reckon you should use drones for recon only...

ALL IMHO....

Here's a nasty idea: tie monofilament line to two of them. Have them run at
the exact same speed on opposite (parellel, not perpendicular) ends of the
corridor. Anyone in the way has no ankles or feet anymore.

Looks good. My only comments are about the female characters--
they seemed awfully stereotypical to me on first reading. Both,
for example, are background characters, relinquishing the limelight
to the males. One is a "mother" while the other one is "concerned
and solicitous." A great deal of time was spent describing their
physical attractiveness (in loving detail)...maybe it's a woman
thing, but I do get tired of reading descriptions of female
characters that include their bust size. Couldn't one of the
women be average looking?

I don't intend for this to be critical, but if you're asking
for suggestions, I suggest making one of the women more of
an up-front, active personality with less of the "mother" and
"concern for teammates" as primary attributes.

Oh: one tiny nit, apropos of nothing: the name "Cammie" an
the description remind me a lot of Cammie from the Street
Fighter games.

My two cents,

Errr...sorry. But recall, two of the male characters are also quiet
(although one, being the team leader, has to step to the fore fairly
often). When I say "background", I don't mean that they just tag along,
doing nothing, saying nothing, thinking nothing. I mean that they
aren't attention seekers, like Michael Blakemore, the combat decker.

Anyway, any stereotype is a function of their roles, not their gender,
as that was what I was thinking of when I was writing their
personalities. "Flamboyant decker", or "quiet mage", not "noisy
guy"
and "retiring woman".

> One is a "mother" while the other one is "concerned and
solicitous."

This was mentioned because I just assumed that everyone would know that
the men are all very protective of the ladies - it's a guy thing. :) I
just mentioned that to point out that the concern is returned.

> A great deal of time was spent describing their physical
attractiveness (in loving detail)...maybe it's a woman thing, but I do
get tired of reading descriptions of female characters that include
their bust size.

Errr, sorry. Chalk that one up to my being a chauvinistic pig if you
will, but from what I've seen, bust sizes have the same effect on a
woman's 'build' as being muscular or wimpy does on a guy. And I would
defend myself by saying I spent as much time on the physical appearance
of the guys as I did on the ladies.

> Couldn't one of the women be average looking?

Oh, I guess so. I just don't write 'average-looking' people too often.
That comes from my shallow nature, I presume. :) Marissa is now plain.
Cammie is still beautiful, but that's mostly cuz she's an elf and ALL
elfs are pretty (jeez, talk about those stereotypes :) ).

> I don't intend for this to be critical, but if you're asking for
suggestions, I suggest making one of the women more of an up-front,
active personality with less of the "mother" and "concern for
teammates" as primary attributes.

Okay - Cammie can certainly fill the active role with being rather
snippy and disparaging of the guys (when they're being jerks, that is)
and I'll give her a typical 'magician's ego'. Or is that too
stereotyped for your liking? (Despite the wording and all the smilies,
Rat, I do appreciate your advice, even though...grrr...it's making me
change things...grrr...:) )

> Oh: one tiny nit, apropos of nothing: the name "Cammie" an the

Okay, well, Cammie (the name) comes from that of a friend (her name's
Camilla, actually, but she truly hates that and only allows Cammie :) )
and Cammie (the description) comes from something I dragged out of thin
air. Nothing to do with Street Fighter.

Ooookay, guys.

Yes, that's very nasty, but it's kind of off-track. As a favour to our
hostess (Dvixen), would you mind not discussing such things on THIS
list (you can take it to ShadowRN if you still want to talk about it),
or at least relating them more to the project? This is, after all, the
fiction list. :)

Errrmmm...I made a NEW laser. It's harder to say an existing drone is
now twice the size it used to be, so it's big enough to carry a gun. :)

Anyway, GreyWolf is going to lend me a hand. The rigger rules are
fresher in his mind anyway.

I believe Condors are SMALL blimps - but, quite obviously, I could be
mistaken. Probably has to be reasonably large to support all the gear,
right? Hmmm...

As for the recon/combat thing - the drones are there for HEAVY support
and recon. That's why they'd have big guns. The only time they'd go
into action would be when the team's already hauled out the assault
rifles and grenade launchers and stealth concerns have gone to hell
anyway.

Or I could arm some of them with the silenced SMGs...

Ummmmm, if I remember correctly, mages and shamans CAN'T use electronic vision mag,
that's why the optical vision mag in cybereyes is available. Once the image has been
processed by electronics (camera, sensors, etc.) it can no longer be used as the sight
needed for spell targeting. now if she just isn't going to use her vision mag for casting
those long range spells, it's no big deal. Thought I'd mention it though

You may be right, but it doesn't matter. The change to optical doesn't
make any overall difference (maybe fractionally more essence is spent,
but it's still less than a full point's worth). Thanks, though.

In SR2 it mentions that Cyberware vision magnifiers do work because the
Magician has paid the essence for the cyberware. if i recall.

related to me, eh ol' chap?"

Smartass.

8-)

In all seriousness, though, the topic looked like it was starting to
head off into the realms of 'nasty drone stories' and that's the realm
of that OTHER list. :)

we use sr3 now dont we?

it says similar things in sr3 in that sction.. but it still says that the
optical anhancement is what mages should use... so youre both right :)

I guess my short story will be in SR2 mode...not that it'll make any diff. :)

Well, gawsh. Apologies are necessary, I think, 'cause p. 300 of SR3
says that optical mag is necessary for magicians. And I believe in

People,

Here's the data on the UCAS team characters as I've envisioned them. I
WANT comments. I WANT suggestions. Or, if you like them as they are,
just say so.

A note - I haven't gone into a lot of detail on gear and such - that
should really take second place to the important stuff IMO. But, again,
suggestions are welcome.

Also, the metamagic abilities of the two magical characters and the
spells of the mage are sorta unfinished. That's because GreyWolf has
borrowed my copy of MitS. So any spell or metamagical ability
suggestions are ALSO welcome. Oh - spell force isn't listed. I'd say
that this is a powerful team, so the mage has them at pretty much any
force required.

Finally, I've given each skill a rating - for the skill level
equivalents of those ratings, look at this list.

Skill Levels:
Excellent – 9 to 10
Great – 7 to 8
Good – 5 to 6
Fair – 3 to 4

Characters:
Name: Richard Blaine
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker One
Position: Team leader/electronics expert (adept)
Rank: Captain
Skills: Assault Rifle (Great), Athletics (Great), Biotech (Fair),
Computer (Fair), Edged Weapons (Knife) (Good/Great), Electronics
(Great), Electronics (B/R) (Good), Leadership (Great), Pistol (Good),
SMG (Excellent), Stealth (Excellent), Unarmed Combat (Excellent)
Know. Skills: Small Unit Tactics (Great)
Metamagic: Centering (various, inc. Athletics/Stealth, Melee and
Ranged), Masking
Bioware: Trauma Damper
Cyberware: Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision Magnification (3), Flare
Compensation, Rangefinder), Internal Air Tank, Smartlink II
Powers: Improved Athletics (3), Improved Quickness (4), Improved
Reflexes (3), Improved SMG (3), Improved Senses (Hearing Amplification,
Low-Light, Sound Dampening, Thermographic), Improved Stealth (5),
Improved Strength (4), Improved Unarmed Combat (2), Killing Hands (M),
Smashing Blow, Traceless Walk
Desc/Per: Richard is a rather unprepossessing-looking man. Handsome in
an unremarkable kind of way, his short, straight light brown hair and
hazel eyes would never mark him out in a crowd. At 5’8" (173cm) and
172lbs (78kg), he’s very near the average of human height, although
he’s somewhat more muscular than average, a further mark of
‘ordinariness’, making him extremely easy to underestimate. His
movements are quick, precise and powerful, the only thing that seems to
set him apart from anyone else.
Richard is calm and professional. He can be quiet sometimes, but that
is more a mark of a contemplative nature than of an introvert. He has
an easy camaraderie with his team, having earned their trust and
respect, but he is not particularly close to any of them. He holds
himself slightly apart, partly in his role as their commander, partly
to prevent him being hurt when he looses a teammate. He leads quietly,
but purposefully and his team follows him without hesitation.

Name: Cecilie (sp?) Cameron (Cammie)
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Callsign: Striker Two
Position: Mage
Rank: Lieutenant
Skills: Athletics (Fair), Aura Reading (Great), Biotech (Fair),
Computer (Fair), Conjuring (Excellent), Edged Weapons (Knife)
(Good/Great), Pistol (Good), SMG (Great), Sorcery (Excellent), Stealth
(Great), Unarmed Combat (Fair)
Metamagic: Centering, Masking, Quickening, Shielding (plus others)
Bioware: Trauma Damper
Cyberware: Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision Magnification (3), Flare
Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder, Thermographic), Internal Air
Tank, Smartlink II
Spells: Acid Stream, Analyse Device, Analyse Truth, Antidote, Armour,
Astral Barrier, Ball Lightning, Chaotic World, Clairaudience,
Clairvoyance, Combat Sense, Death Touch, Detect Enemies, Detect
Individual, Fireball, Heal, Improved Invisibility, Increase Reflexes
(3), Levitate, Manaball, Physical Barrier, Power Bolt, Stealth,
Stunball,
Desc/Per: Cammie is the archetypal tall, willowy blonde. Standing 6’2"
(188cm) in height, she weighs a mere 146lbs (66kg). Slim, small-busted
and leggy, she is almost a typical elven beauty. Her high cheekbones
and angular chin give her an almost triangular face. Her full lips and
sparkling green eyes add to a stunning smile. Her wavy, honey-blond
hair frames her face and hangs to her shoulders, although she ties it
back on missions.
Cammie usually seems prim and proper, looking down her pert nose at
Michael and Billy’s boisterous behaviour. On a mission, however, her
true nature comes out. She is very concerned and solicitous of her
teammates and will often push herself just that little bit further to
safeguard or heal her companions. She is content to remain in the
background until her particular expertise is needed, but when magic is
required, she steps to the fore and does her job quickly and
professionally – when she is done, however, she relinquishes the
limelight almost gratefully.

Name: Thomas Charles
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker Three
Position: Combat specialist/medic
Rank: Sergeant
Skills: Assault Rifle (Good), Athletics (Fair), Biotech (Excellent),
Computer (Fair), Edged Weapons (Knife) (Good/Great), Pistol (Good), SMG
(Great), Stealth (Great), Unarmed Combat (Great)
Bioware: Enhanced Articulation, Muscle Augmentation (3), Nephritic
Screen, Orthoskin (2), Pathogenic Defence (4), Platelet Factory,
Synthacardium (2), Toxin Extractor (4), Tracheal Filter (4), Trauma
Damper
Cyberware: Bone Lacing (Aluminium), Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision
Magnification (3), Flare Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder,
Thermographic), Internal Air Tank, Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit
HD VI, Subdermal Speakers, Subvocal Microphone), Smartlink II, Wired
Reflexes (2)
Desc/Per: Like Richard, Thomas is a rather ‘average’ man. Unlike
Richard, this has little to do with his appearance and everything to do
with his nature. Thomas is extremely quiet and withdrawn, slipping into
the background at every opportunity. Like Cammie, Thomas will perform
his job when required, but does so without any fanfare. The only time
he has been known to draw attention to himself is when a teammate has
been injured and only his skill as a combat medic stands between them
and death. Oddly enough, he enjoys company – however the fact of its
existence seems to be enough for him. He’ll sit with Michael and Billy
in a bar and almost never say a word.
Thomas is slightly smaller than Cammie, standing 6’1" (185.5cm) in
height. As would be expected, however, he is much more bulky and
muscular than the elf woman, weighing 192lbs (87kg). He wears his
curly, dark brown hair in a buzz-cut and his blue eyes are surprisingly
lively. His strong, square face is rather plain, but he has a very
appealing smile. His skin is a light, chocolaty brown, a mark of his
African heritage.

Name: Michael Blakemore
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker Four
Position: Combat specialist/decker
Rank: Sergeant
Skills: Athletics (Fair), Biotech (Fair), Computer (Excellent),
Cyber-Implant Combat (Cyberspurs) (Good/Great), Edged Weapons (Knife)
(Good/Great), Pistol (Good), Shotgun (Good) SMG (Great), Stealth
(Great)
Bioware: Enhanced Articulation, Nephritic Screen, Orthoskin (2),
Pathogenic Defence (4), Platelet Factory, Synthacardium (2), Toxin
Extractor (4), Tracheal Filter (4), Trauma Damper
Cyberware: Cyberarms (2) (w/Cyberdeck (L), Cybergun (Shotgun) (R),
Cyberspur (L/R), Gyromount (R), Magnetic System, Quickness (3),
Smartlink II (R), Strength (3)) Cybereyes (w/Flare Compensation,
Low-Light, Rangefinder, Thermographic), Datajack (4), Internal Air
Tank, Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit HD VI, Subdermal Speakers,
Subvocal Microphone), Wired Reflexes (2)
Desc/Per: Like Billy, Michael is a ‘typical’ army grunt – boisterous,
excitable, heavy-drinking and – normally – fun to be around. Unlike
Billy, Michael has something of a temper. Being in a team with people
who are stronger than he is, who can outfight him and who can perform
magic and rig vehicles has done wonders for his demeanour, however. A
tendency to go wild in combat is one of the only remnants of his
‘angry’ days. A heavy womaniser, he has pursued both Cammie and Marissa
unsuccessfully – but that doesn’t stop him trying. He is loud, big
talking and often sarcastic – but he is also professional and he gets
the job done.
At 6’4" (193cms) and 214lbs (97kgs), Michael is the second largest
person on the team. His black hair is slightly longer than regulations
would normally permit, but he’s in a position to get away with it. An
easy smile and slim, handsome features has made him popular with the
ladies – with some notable exceptions. His grey eyes can be somewhat
unsettling, seeming to almost look right through you.

Name: William (Billy) Hawkins
Gender: Male
Race: Ork
Callsign: Striker Five
Position: Heavy weapons specialist/demolitions expert
Rank: Sergeant
Skills: Assault Rifle (Good), Athletics (Fair), Biotech (Fair),
Computer (Fair), Demolitions (Great), Edged Weapons (Knife)
(Good/Great), Heavy Weapons (Excellent), Laser Weapons (Excellent),
Launch Weapons (Great), Pistol (Good), SMG (Great), Shotgun (Good),
Stealth (Good), Unarmed Combat (Good)
Bioware: Enhanced Articulation, Muscle Augmentation (4), Nephritic
Screen, Orthoskin (2), Pathogenic Defence (4), Platelet Factory,
Synthacardium (2), Toxin Extractor (4), Tracheal Filter (4), Trauma
Damper
Cyberware: Bone Lacing (Titanium), Cybereyes (w/Electronic Vision
Magnification (3), Flare Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder,
Thermographic), Internal Air Tank, Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit
HD VI, Subdermal Speakers, Subvocal Microphone), Smartlink II, Wired
Reflexes (2)
Desc/Per: Billy, like Michael, is a very boisterous man - so much so
that the two of hem have become the best of friends, even after Billy
was forced to punch Michael when they first met (Michael was feeling
belligerent). More good-natured and even-tempered than his friend,
Billy acts as a brake on him in socials situations, to an extent. On a
mission, however, Billy is calm and professional - although he can get
somewhat excited when his own particular specialty comes into play. He
loves assault cannons, miniguns and lasers.
Billy is by far the largest member of the team, at 6’7" (201cm) and
252lbs (114kg). Big and muscular even for an ork, his features are
fairly even. Not exactly handsome, he is nevertheless much better
looking that the average (Shadowrun) ork, with tiny tusks and no dermal
build-up or warts or the like. His short hair is a bright, coppery red
and his eyes are blue - although often bloodshot enough to be a match
for his hair.

Name: Marissa Rodriguez
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Callsign: Striker Six
Position: Rigger
Rank: Lieutenant
Skills: Biotech (Fair), Car (Excellent), Computer (Drone Programming)
(Good/Excellent), Electronics (Warfare) (Great/Excellent), Gunnery
(Excellent), LTA (Excellent)
Cyberware: Cybereyes (w/Flare Compensation, Low-Light, Rangefinder,
Thermographic), Datajack (4), Radio (w/Commlink VI, Crypto-Circuit HD
VI, Subdermal Speakers, Subvocal Microphone), Smartlink II, Vehicle
Control Rig (3)
Desc/Per: Marissa is a petite, kind woman, caring for her teammates
almost to the exclusion of her own safety. The fact that her job rarely
puts her in danger makes no difference to the others and she is
everybody’s little sister - and everybody’s mother. She performs her
role as scout, sniper and heavy support without hesitation or qualm.
She is usually glad to leave her job behind at the end of the day,
however. Although usually quiet and calm, she can drink and party with
the best of them, and often does.
Marissa has classic Hispanic colouring; long black hair, brown eyes
and tawny skin. Although rather tiny - standing 5’3" (160cm) and
weighing only 114lbs (52kg) - she is rather buxom and curvy. She and
Cammie like to talk about ‘trading’ body parts ("If I had your hair…",
"If I had your figure…"). She is quietly beautiful, making no attempt
to draw attention to herself through clothing or makeup, yet nearly
rivalling Cammie for male attention.

Gear:
Armoured Bodysuits - Black (equivalent of cammo suits from SR3 - 5/3
armour).
Reversible Utility Vests - Black/Urban Cammo (lots of pockets for
holding stuff - standard one is 4/3 armour - Cammie’s is a lighter
version at 3/2).
SMGs (equivalent of HK-227S with full automatic capability and extended
(45 round) clips - APDS ammo standard).
Ares Alpha Combatguns (APDS or EX Exp ammo standard - carried by
Richard and Thomas).
Franchi Spas-22 (EX Exp slug ammo, shot ammo - carried by Michael).
Mk IX Combat Laser (carried by Billy).
Cougar Fineblades - Long (Cammie’s knife is a rating 4/6 stacked
weapon/power focus - the power focus is a finely-worked emerald in the
pommel. Btw, I can’t remember if stacked foci still exist in SR3. Can
someone tell me?).
MGL 6 Grenade Pistols
IPE Minigrenades - Defensive, IR Smoke, Concussion, Gas
Ares Sliverguns
Other miscellaneous gear - pretty much whatever the situation requires.

Drones:
2 Condor II LTAs w/Walther MA2100 sniper rifles mounted - APDS ammo
(thanks to GreyWolf for the inspiration).
2 Steel Lynx w/Heavy Machine Guns - APDS ammo.

Well, what do you think? Speak up!

I gave you the chance to get it back yesterday (and

playing a rigger right now..)

try the one Im sending you in the email now.

> Oh: one tiny nit, apropos of nothing: the name "Cammie" an the
description remind me a lot of Cammie from the Street Fighter games.

Thought I'd mention it though

electronic vision mag, that's why the optical vision mag in cybereyes
is available. Once the image has been processed by electronics (camera,
sensors, etc.) it can no longer be used as the sight needed for spell
targeting. now if she just isn't going to use her vision mag for
casting those long range spells, it's no big deal. Thought I'd mention
it though

You may be right, but it doesn't matter. The change to optical doesn't
make any overall difference (maybe fractionally more essence is spent,
but it's still less than a full point's worth). Thanks, though.

In SR2 it mentions that Cyberware vision magnifiers do work because the
Magician has paid the essence for the cyberware. if i recall.

Smartass.

8-)

In all seriousness, though, the topic looked like it was starting to
head off into the realms of 'nasty drone stories' and that's the realm
of that OTHER list. :)

Ja. My most sincere apologies, Mein Fuher ;^). <======== Smiley!
Smiley! Smiley! No offense! I was going to explain using a movie reference
the manner in which I grovel, but I decided not, because not everyone has
seen it yet...

I guess my short story will be in SR2 mode...not that it'll make any diff. :)

*Doc' elbows Strago...not TOO hard...*

Before you guys keep taking the mickey out of me, let me just put it
this way. Wouldn't you rather that I mentioned this in passing rather
than have Dvixen kick us off the list because we're going OT too much?
:)

Anyway, 'nuff of that - 'less you want to keep insulting me some more.

Naw, Tay-Dor's got it right. You can use it since essence was paid.
Good thought though, keep looking for stuff like that.

Well, gawsh. Apologies are necessary, I think, 'cause p. 300 of SR3
says that optical mag is necessary for magicians. And I believe in
using the most current Edition for my writing, at least :)
