Okay, people, it looks like we're down to two options for the core
threads again. Strago's option will become his short story in all
likelihood and we haven't had any more suggestions, so here are the two
options:

Two threads - as detailed by myself. A Renraku black ops team goes in
to rescue Cliber. Meanwhile, a shadow team goes in to rescue a
friend/family member/whoever. Renraku team fails and loses most
members. Shadow team succeeds - more or less.

Three threads - as detailed by Snake Eyes and GreyWolf. UCAS military
team goes in to rescue Cliber. Renraku black ops team goes in to rescue
Cliber and stop UCAS from getting her. Shadow team goes in to rescue a
friend/family member/etc. Both the UCAS and Renraku team fail and they
chew each other up quite a bit. Shadow team succeeds.

So basically, the overall concept of the second option is an expansion
of the first, although the details would likely be quite different.

Could everyone involved in the project (writers, planners, editors)
start voting again? No more new ideas for the core threads unless
you've got a REAL corker - just vote for which of the above options
you'd prefer to do.

If you have any questions about the details of the two options, I'm
sure Kismet and Strago can answer them while I'm away over the weekend,
and Snake Eyes can also help answer anything about the 'three thread'
concept.

Okay, people, let's get things rolling.

ok, back after some really bad email screw-ups so i have missed
a lot and the archives are sometimes quite hard to follow so
with not really much info and just reading the posts from this
evening i vote for the 3-thread option.

OK, I volunteer to collect the votes and let Doc know when the weekend is
over. I'd LOVE to get all the votes in by Sunday. By my calendar, that
gives two (2) days (approximately) to do it. If it's Friday night, well, if
it's in by Monday I won't beat you. OK? ;^)

I vote for 3 as well...

Noone here really knows me, but my name is Renee, and my freinds call me
Ayla. I'v finished one novel, and am currently working on one to propose for
TSR (AD&D) But love Shadowrun and have played it for several years. I'm
slightly confused on one point though.. Doc said this was going to be an
Anthology... a collection of Short Stories. Your wanting these threads to
run through all the stories? Am I understanding this correctly? You'll have
to excuse me, I just subscribed yesterday and have missed alot. Archives are

Hi,
I know this isn't pointed at me, but I've got a second, so here goes.
The current plan is to have an anthology where all the short stories are
tied together by between 2 and 3 threads. For example, let's say I am
writing about a group that gets dropped into the Labrynth. While in there
my characters hear a gun fight between two groups. They hear one of the
members of the fight call out to a buddy, using the name of one of the
shadowrunners. I have written nothing above a one sentence description
about the core threads, yet it still runs through my story. Does this make
more sense?

I believe that this will actually be a "braided novel" - basically, an
anthology with an underlying plot/theme. According to Michael Stackpole (a
damn fine author - read his stuff if you get the chance) in the afterword
for "Wolf and Raven", a "braided novel" sell better than an anthology.
To
me, it's a matter of semantics, but what the hey?

I understand the concern regarding additional complications that a third
(actually 2.5) thread would add to the basic storyline(s). So, speaking
solely as a latecomer who brought a monkeywrench to the project, I'll be
perfectly satisfied with whatever the group eventually concludes --
subject to the opinions of the final deciding authority. Anyway, put me
down for three.

Not yet, but I was away when voting started. I'm GOING to be keeping
track.

Btw, someone (Strago?) mentioned that there are 10 people involved.
There are actually a few more than that and once I've been through all
my mail and collated all the votes, I'll let people who haven't voted,
but I expect to vote, know.

Okay, people, it looks like we're down to two options for the core
threads again. Strago's option will become his short story in all
likelihood and we haven't had any more suggestions, so here are the two
options:

Two threads - as detailed by myself. A Renraku black ops team goes in
to rescue Cliber. Meanwhile, a shadow team goes in to rescue a
friend/family member/whoever. Renraku team fails and loses most
members. Shadow team succeeds - more or less.

Three threads - as detailed by Snake Eyes and GreyWolf. UCAS military

Cliber and stop UCAS from getting her. Shadow team goes in to rescue a
friend/family member/etc. Both the UCAS and Renraku team fail and they

So basically, the overall concept of the second option is an expansion
of the first, although the details would likely be quite different.

Could everyone involved in the project (writers, planners, editors)
start voting again? No more new ideas for the core threads unless

concept.

Do I have to vote, or can people assume what I will vote instead?

I've been calling it a 'linked anthology', but as you said, Geoff, it's
a matter of semantics. :)
