Maybe I missed this in the last 300-odd posts, but ignoring the "Two
Threads/Three Threads" -thread:

Has it been decided Who's Writing What?
-- Got a lot of potential writers & only three (or two) "Key" parts
-- Is there a proposed list of stories somewhere?
-- I spoke w/Doc last week about my part (not a "Key" bit, but it impacts one)

What the submission format's gonna be?
-- Do we just post the rough drafts for all to see, ala. SRFictionCircle?
-- or email the text to the editors (& continuity cops) first?
-- and just how are they planning to DO their dirty work?

Have there been any submission deadlines set?
-- ie. when do you want to see some copy from us?

Not meaning to sound bitchy here, I _did_ come late to this party.

Actually, I've been wondering these questions myself. I'm going to try to answer
them to the best of my ability, and from what I've been thinking are the points we
should work from. That said, on with the discussion!

I've been thinking this as well. If Doc' would post everyone's story idea (as a 1
sentence "blurb", not the full description ie. mine (as we are all aware) is:
Resistance meets with Renraku and Shadowrunners, heavy interaction and a ferocious
gun battle at the end) then we might know. I'm not too sure about who's writing any
of the "Key" parts. Any volunteers? Remember, you kinda need to let go of your
characters after your story is written. I'm not a good candidate for that; I'm
kinda possessive about letting people play with my stuff...

I'd like for the writers of the "key" stories to post a list of their
characters and what those characters' functions are, just so when the rest of us
are writing our stories we can use the right names (right now, I'm just using
"shadowrunner 1," "Renraku 3," etc. Of course, I haven't started
writing yet. It's
all just in-head planning atm. As an editor, I'm planning on A) reading all of
the stories first, B) correcting spelling and grammar, C) talking extensively with
the writer(s) involved in any continuity crises, and D) letting each writer fix
what needs to be fixed. Then I'll re-read all the stories and the process will
repeat until all problems are solved to my satisfaction.

> Have there been any submission deadlines set?

Like I said, I'd like to see copy from the "Key" writers ASAP so I can write
my
story. As for a deadline for everyone else, I'm kinda hoping July 1 will see the
beginnings of stories. I know this Thursday I'm gonna start actually writing.

You don't sound bitchy. These are all legitamate questions which MUST be answered
if this project is gonna reach more than the planning stage.

My strong points are characterization, discription, and plot. The problem
I'm having with this entire thing is that I'm not at all good as far as
combat goes. My novels tend to be more in the political and spiritual arena.
As for a story IDEA, I think I'm going to hold off and see what some of you
produce and draw my ideas from that, or maybe tie them together at the end.
I'm not sure. Wherever I'll fit in best is where I'll rest...

Okay, that sounds good. I'll save him the trouble on mine.

[This is not a "key" part]:
"A lone, high-tech 'sneak-thief' breaks into a high-securtiy section of the Arc,
in search of >>Some Important Items<< on the day before (or early in _THE_
day)
Deus takes over, only to have said take-over ruin his carefully laid out plans.
I'm giong to have him briefly run afowl of a few of Deus' "Blues," then retreat
wounded & demoralized to some hidey-hole--to be found by (ie. handed-off to) the
(Key) Runner Team, later in the book, who'll help him get out."

My notes, so far:
----------------
o I'm keeping this story short since my stuff always runs l-o-n-g, 'sides, I
can always lengthen the fight scene if need be.

o It should be towards the beginning if possible, otherwise it'll be Flashback
City from his POV! -- not entirely a bad thing, but more difficult to craft.

o My dwarven "physical intrusion specialist" char is already fleshed out--he's
a new PC, whom I haven't written about before (made him up special for a
smuggling campaign that fell thru). The majority of my "stock" chars wouldn't
set foot in the 'Raku Arcology for all the tea in Chiba!

o The "Some Important Items" above should be carryable in a backpack, but could
tie in to another's story. <--(I'm re-reading RA:S now for ideas on this)

o Not sure at all how the aforementioned "character handoff" will work, but
that's why you editors get paid the BigBux! ;-)

That's all I have at this point folks,

Well, I wouldn't worry about the combat thing. My tale's gonna have
only two violent scenes, really, really short ones, and I still think
it can stand up on its own. 'Course, it's only in the planning stages,
sooo...we'll see.

The way it seems to me (Though I'm not sure) is that Doc only does the email thing
during the week. This based on the post last week (or was it the week before?)
about seeing us on monday cuz he wouldn't be emailing during the weekend... In
which case I'm thinking he'll be back today. Of course, I could be
compleeeeeeeeeeeeeetely wrong and he's just avoiding us because we've finally
driven him so far that he can't take it any more.

Doc only has internet access at work. I'm pretty sure
he's off weekends. He should be back tonight.

Both of you would be right...except about the being driven too far
bit...I've still got SOME patience left in me. :)

This was actually a long weekend, though, which is why I was gone for
three days, instead of the usual two. Sorry about forgetting to mention that.

So, now the burning question arises. In the light of a couple
changed votes that I currently forget, what's the score? Two, three,
nine threads? Should we start deciding who's writing what about the
core threads? Who _was_ that masked man?

I don't know. Give me SOME time to read my mail. :) No, not yet. Once
I've figured out what's happening, I'll put up a post explaining the
next stage, which will include assigning the introductory posts for the
core threads. Batman.

No, not yet, although some people have already decided on their
(non-core) short story ideas - which is fine, as I've discussed with
them how to work the stories into the core threads. Anyway, the
"decision" will happen once we've figured out how many core threads
we're doing.

That's okay. There's

> -- Is there a proposed list of stories somewhere?

Yes. I have lists of story ideas and stories that people want to do.
Once we get up to the story stage (which will be quite soon), I'll be
putting up the 'ideas' again, for those who haven't got their own. :)

Drafts go to me. I circulate them to the editors. Someone says they'll
edit it. It's edited. We get back to the writers about any changes
required.

Meanwhile, if you WANT feedback from the list, you can send your draft
there. If you do this, you MUST collect all feedback generated and pass
it on to me, so that the editors can take it into account.

No. Things are still a bit too undecided for that.

should work from.

> -- ie. when do you want to see some copy from us?
