give info in a "behind the scenes" format so that the GM knows what's
really going on; RA:S was set up like almost every other SR sourcebook
since the Seattle Sourcebook: game world text with comments.

> So the real problem with these tracked adventures is that you think
that they aren't adventures at all and so shouldn't be selled with an
"adventure" tag on them? I can see the problem, but I don't think it's
a major one. I mean, we all know what they actually are, don't we?
Okay, people - I brought this across from ShadowRN. Now, I don't intend
to get into this debate myself, but I've just had a bit of a grand
vision thingy. Oooo...:)
The background is, I was sitting in my room on Saturday, listening to
Def Leppard (Slang) and checking out something in RA:S. Then I decided
to read a bit more and I remembered how freaked I was by all of it -
for my mind, RA:S is the scariest thing in Shadowrun I've EVER read -
even moreso than Threats (my all-time favourite SR book). I thought
it'd be very interesting to write a story using the shutdown as a
background, but I convinced myself that it isn't a good idea because I
have all these other commitments and SR is, unfortunately, a dead end
in a writing career for me right now.
But I've got this really good idea for a story now, inspired by RA:S
and the Def Leppard song, Pearl of Euphoria (wonderful mood music for
SR if you ask me). And now I've had a vision...:)
People, how would you feel about writing short stories set during the
arcology shutdown? As long or short as you want, doesn't matter. If
we're good enough (and I'm sure we would be with some editing) and we
got enough material, we could submit it to FASA to see what they think
about publishing it. I was thinking we could link the stories as was
done in Into the Shadows, so if you're interested, I'd need to know
your plot ideas, so we can work them in together (I'm volunteering
myself as the editor/collator if you hadn't guessed). At worst, you'd
have an interesting Shadowrun short story. At best...well, let's not
get our hopes up too much, but you see what I'm saying. :)
Anyway, what do you think? If you're interested, let me (and the list)
know. I think this could be a great project to do over the list. I'm
prepared to volunteer my time to help anyone who needs it (you've seen
some of my writing - you know what I can do) and I hope other
experienced writers here would do the same. I've read stories on here
that tell me that we're good enough to do this and I think the arcology
shutdown could be a perfect background to this kind of thing.
If you haven't got RA:S, but you're interested, a) get it, b) borrow it
or c) tell the list your problem. There are people here who can provide
data on it and there are some pages on the net somewhere (can't recall
the address offhand, but it's there) containing the 'lost data' - stuff
that was cut from the sourcebook.
So let me know! I'm in for one!! :)
