Well, after I've had it beaten into my head a few times, and I
finally *understand* it correctly, I like it too!

I was having a few thoughts this morning (three, specifically), and
thought I'd toss them out to see what folks think of them.

If the stated aim is to get this baby published by FASA when it's
finished, there were three issues that occurred to me:

1. Given FASA's novel publishing schedule, (2 years in advance,
last I heard), it might be worthwhile to check with FASA to make
sure they don't have any grand plans for the Arcology in the next
couple of years. Otherwise, our anthology might end up being moot.

2. On the same note (and I'm playing devil's advocate here, not
trying to be a spoilsport), the Arcology Shutdown plotline is already
almost a year old. Cool as it is (and again, I'm talking about if
we plan to get this published) is FASA going to go for an anthology
based around an "old news" plotline?

3. Would it be of any value to try to convince one of the SR
published authors (such as, say, Steve Kenson, Brian Schoner, or
Jak Koke) to write an "anchor" story for the anthology? FASA might
take the project more seriously if there was a "name" involved.

Okay, I'm done now. Again, I'm not trying to be a spoilsport--
I'm very interested in the project. Just bringing these things
up early so they can be addressed.

Also, if there's room for another editor, I'm interested. I'm not
great with continuity, but I'm good with character and
whether plot holds together.

Later,

Mightn't be a bad idea, but even then, I'd still do the project for the self
gratification of writing a decent story

How 'old news' is it though? I mean, if FASA had already done something major
with it, or advanced it in their story line, I could see it, but it's still
listed as being a 'wildcard' in the world at the moment (At least as far as I
know)

Not only would that prolly prod FASA a bit more into taking it seriously, but
it'd kick mega-arse to write anything associated with some of the SR novel
authors.

Possibly, although I thought it might be worthwhile to hold off until
we had SOMETHING (a couple of stories, plus a synopsis for the rest of
the stories, similar to what is required by FASA's submission
guidelines) before taking it to them. Otherwise they might just veto
the idea from the start and we wouldn't have the chance to impress them
with our talent. :)

Well, this is still very much open as of New Seattle. I think FASA is
going to have to do SOMETHING to finish this shutdown plot off - if
they ever do. So, yes, in the meantime I think we've got a good chance
if our stories are good enough. That's the big thing. We have to be
ambitious in what we do in order for it to be eye-catching enough that
FASA would want to publish it.

Yes, I'm sure it would. Okay, should I approach them with the current
idea summary? Or should I wait until we've decided on the core
plotlines? Or do you guys think someone else should take care of this?

Fair enough. Don't forget, Rat, even if FASA says no, I still want to
do this and we'll put the finished product up on the net for public
consumption. You'd love having it on your page, wouldn't you? :)
