At 300 yards, any decent marksman can hit something that size with
iron sights, never mind a scope. Heck, anyone with a Marksman rating or
above can hit a guy at 400 yards with Iron sites, and many people use a
.223 to do it (Usually either a .223 or .30 is the caliber of choice at
most NRA sanctioned events..) The trick is doing it with a live moving
target, and no time to test fire a few rounds to fix your sights a
couple of clicks.. One would image they/d only get one chance to do it
as well. ;-P That's how I'd explain having to roll so many successes
to do it, anyway..
