Finally, a street date!

Shadowrun Fourth Edition will be shipping to distributors next week,
which means we have an official street release date of October 3rd.
This first print run is going to go fast, so get it while you can!

Succeeded in driving roll - though it ended up taking over 40 hours to get
from Houston to Arkansas. Spent 6 hours on one ten-mile stretch
alone. All I can say is .. Wow. What a mass of humanity, all flooding in
the same direction... The pictures do NOT do it justice. Despite it all -
people did not resort to extremes. Even stranded, out of gas, stuck in 104
degree weather, people were as friendly as they could be.

>Yikes! Don't forget the important stuff, like your Shadowrun books. :-D

My original plan was to simply count everything as a loss, considering the
planned devastation. After talking with my best friend, I changed my mind,
delayed my departure for four hours, and repacked my entire house up at
least 2 feet. I may come back to an undamaged house, or minor damage, but
Shadowrun will survive ;)

Thanks for your concern - here's to hoping Rita takes a pass on wiping
Louiisiana and east Texas off the map.

Oooh, I'll have to drop by the local hobby shop, as it were, and lok for it!

Not that I'm going to switch, mind you...

Is this still the current story? I just spoke to my FLGS and they are
saying that a binding error at the publisher has delayed the release, and
they don't yet have a revised date.

Not everything is hackable though. The books specifically states that
it is up to the GM what items will be wireless enabled. So I doubt the
most basic items would be wireless. Unless maybe they slapped in an
RFID to track shipping... But then I would be dubious about that. I
would say small household items would only have RFIDs in the crate
like today, not in the product itself. But that's just me. I wouldn't
expect underwear or toothpaste to be wireless. The books makes mention
of a coat or shirt being so, so that a user could store music in it...
I see clothes like that being designed today, but I don't think our
skivvies will be so enabled. :-)

Word. As much as I love Harn, they've made some, er,
unfulfilled production promises. I've been waiting for the Trierzon
regional module since fall of 1987.

One of the guys from Redbrick, which is doing the Earthdawn 1st ed stuff,
posted to RPGnet in a similar thread there that they were having a similar
issue with a binding company. No idea if it's the SAME binding company,
but...
