well, there are two ways around this problem. you can find someway to make
them want to do the run, like envolving the characters worst enemy, or you
can give up for the night.

The Inauguration and Memorial services badges were handed out during the
FASA run, three round SR tournament. They were actaually, sort of,
character props - the first round you were working security during the
Ball, the second round was of course following the death of the President.
Unfortunately, our team did not make it to the third round so I do not know
what, if anything, was handed out to the character/players there.
Hope that helps.

As for other people getting a hold of them, I couldn't tell you how
they were officially given out, other than a contest prizes. :)

I believe you have them all. At least that is all of the ones I was
given and the only ones I have ever heard of.

I must agree with you on this one. It is understood that not all WoD players
fall into this category, but one must admit the environment does attract
those wispy, "I want you to fear me because I'm REALLY evil" types. After
studying the martial arts for many years I have learned (sometimes to my
surprise) that even very slight built people can be very effective. On the
other hand, we have these

Be glad you never tried the SRII decking rules... (SR1 was stomachable,
but the VR1/SRII rules, though very similar, made it MUCH worse.)

That's what I discovered, too, when I started playing my decker character.
I guess the best solution is to give good descriptions of what the system
looks like and what the decker is doing; the dicerolling becomes a bit
less prominent then, but you can't really avoid it, because almost every
action a decker takes involves rolling a C

Well at least it saves us mythomaniacs hours of research into ancient
stories to find if it was an obscure reference :).
You can't believe how disappointed I was when I finally discovered at
the tender age of nine that the Necronomicon didn't exist; "So this
means that I can't summon one of the Elders to take my little sister

It does exist, I have a copy in paperback that was a textbook in a college
course I took called "Psychopathology of the Occult". It was a great class
where the bulk of our time was spent watching horror movies.

When assigning the book list, the professor confessed that the spells in the
Necronomicon wouldn't work unless you used black candles and then proceeded
to tell us where the black candles could be bought.

I did a check on Amazon and here's the direct URL for ordering it from them:

If a person shoots randomly at a crowd, and would be shotting the mage,
that does not trigger "detect enemies". That implies to me that they
"enemy" must know who they have malicious intentions towards.

They gave some of the badges as prizes to the first place team (And
possibly the second place team as well, I'm not sure. 2nd place tends to
get shafted at GC :( ), and most of the judges ended up with one or
two. The rest went to any of Granite's list bud's who were hanging around.

PS: As for the Election badges, they were used AFAIK in the 96 Tourney,
and probably ended up getting handed out in much the same manner as the
Corp Badges from this past years tourney. I know we had a handful of them
that we used at the Origins 98 tourney, since the first round of that took
place during the 57 election, so we were using them as a cheap "tone
setting" prop :] I had the Ann Penchyk/General Yeats one, though FASA
wanted to get those back since I think they were the last ones they had.
