This is a personal plea. My screen is only 80 columns wide (the company I
work for is cheap :). I have a really hard time trying to read and respond
to posts which are wider then that (like the one above) because my mailer
doesn't always display the stuff beyond the 80th column. If postings could
be trimmed to 80 columns or less I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
-David

BTW, is there a way to fix this for ELM using UNIX? Since this question is
not ShadowRN related please respond to me personally.

Try using a different pager than the builtin pager. I won't guarantee that
it'll work but more or pg (depending on system and term type) sometimes
fix things like this.

This sounded like a few people might benefit so I put this back on the list.

I got it fixed. After a lot of searching I found out I could set
pager=builtin++ in my elmrc file and that seems to have fixed the problem.
Just in case anyone else might find this to be beneficial I'm posting it to
the list. To everyone for whom this is irrelavent I apologize for taking up
your time with this.

Thanks Mike

hmmmm..... I noticed some of that when I got some postings back thru
the list... I've cut down the margins considerably in anticipation of
your "plea"....

For that same reason, I'm posting here as well... in your elm options,
there's an option kind like "View with", or "Page by", or something.
Its
default value is "builtin+". Well... there's a special unix command
called 'fmt'. It's a pipeline command, so run it before the builtin. as
in "/bin/fmt | /bin/more", or something.

I've started doing the same thing. Since I've been using Netscape's beta
for mail I've been formatting my messages by not typing past the end of
my .signature. Just trying to do my bit!
