I'm still on vacation, and I'm checking out the travel agents next week. I
think I may be gone for awhile longer.
But anyways.. I just got some bounce messages, saw that the "Read or die!"
thread was still going, and hopped over to the logs to see what was being
said. Some decent points, and since Mailman is open source, I may have a
try at adding the features myself.
Basically, what seems to make the most sense is a delayed (12, 24, 48?)
hour notification of any bounce-induced change in list status. Does this
seem satisfactory? Any comments, email me privately, as I'm still NOMAIL.
BTW, it does appear that AOL mail servers do not hold mail for the
appropriate time. It seems that almost every week a batch of 3-10 AOLers
are set to nomail automagically, and while I would like to email everyone
who bounces and make sure that it's legit, I generally don't have the time
for it. I do let IRC regulars know if they've bounced when I see them
next, but that's about as far as I can go.
Maybe I could kludge up a bounce report..
Anyways, like I said - make sure your comments arrive to me as well as to
the list. I don't want to have to read the list logs to catch stray
comments, because I'm supposed to be on vacation, damnit <g>
