thanks for the replies. I have received about 40 mails and will start
compiling when they run dry.

Do any women (besides you, LadyJ) play this game? I know quite a few really
good female roleplayers (OK OK and a few bad ones too)

We have Lady Jestyr and Dvixen (Who's NOmail for a little while. She
needed a break:)), and there WAS a couple thers lurking about around
christmas... I think at last count we had 5 female listmembers...:]

And I keep wondering what a player's sex has to do with role playing?
I've met more bad male role players then I have females. Sure it has
nothing to do with the fact there are more men playing then women.

Technically, nothing, but realistically.... a little bit. Just mainly
due to those sometimes-not-really-quantifiable-but-too-real-to-ignore
differences between men and women (besides the obvious ones of course).
I think as a generality, women tend to be more empathic than men, which
would be a bit of an asset when trying to assume another persona. And
then there is the Male:Conquest versus Female:Interaction issue... you
know how "they say" that men are more aggressive and into conquest and
conquring (duh!) while women are more geared toward less direct and
confrontational pursuits (while this is not always true, it's a good
template).... this leads to situations where the guys' characters start
trying to slay that dragon with big shiny swords, while the gal's starts
talking to it ...(happened in one AD&D game).

This same female player was/is more interested in the character
interactions (no matter what game was being played) than the completion
of the story... While the guy's in the group were slightly more
interested in the latter.
