Just got a car alarm and the maker's accessorry brochure had some spiffy
ideas that could be applied to the various SR Anti-theft ratings... check
out www.dei.com (and go to security and muck around). I never would have
thought to project an image on the windshield when the car is armed (from
the brochure, it looks like the image is a coiled snake) ... :)

Very cool. If you then postulate a holographic projection system that does
NOT require a "tank" in which to place the hologram (i.e., is Trid
freestanding, or in a box/tube of glass?) ... then you could do that in 3D.

Or better ,,, like the LoJack system, kind of: hook the autopilot (which, if
it's level 2+ IIRC, can drive you to an address, therefor must know where the
car IS at all times) to the Antitheft system.

Then hook a PANICButton to the antitheft system.

Then, when someone steals the car, it calls LoneStar (etc) and drives to the
nearest precinct house. LOL

I had something similar, once (in game, not real life, ofc ;-): if someone
stole my boat, it called the Harbor Patrol, and then stuck the controls in a
tight, FAST circle. AFTER getting more than 50 to 100 meters from shore, I
might add.

And it only stopped circling whent eh HP got there, at which point it went
DEAD in the water. <g>

My currently ex-rigger had her vehicles setup to allow access only when
commanded over a datajack that is conected to a rigg, the systems checks
the rigg installed for its identification, if its wrong 10D electricity
direct to the brain :)

Easy enough to have some encryption based door locks and a datajack
input, but those datajack cables are fiber optic, and don't conduct
electricity (even if not, using an optical scanning jack / emitter would get
around that). Heck, I'd bet jacks all have circuit dampers and breakers,
just to prevent static electricity from giving you a seizure (or brain
damage) when you pull off a synthetic fiber hat in the winter.
What you want is some Black IC, since that induces bio-feedback in a
manner that won't shut down the jack but will cause bodily harm. A modified
"Black Hammer" utility, with some dedicated circuits, should do the trick
nicely, if that's your game.

Hey, false advertising! This thread has nothing to do with insect
robbery...that makes me mad enough to go and relieve some stress by
breaking into a biology lab and stealing some fruit flies...

-Murder of One

(they fetch a hefty price on the Black(fly) Market, don't you know)
