In a move to help continue record sales of Collectible Card Games,
Wizards of the Coast announced today that they had completed
negotiations with FASA to acquire the dormant Earthdawn series license
and use the characters and places in the game in an addition to their
popular and addictive trademark series "Magic: The Gathering"
Richard Garfield, the creator of Magic The Gathering, and the top
official for Wizards of the Coast (NYSE Symbol: WotC) announced the
acquisition of the license at a press conference earlier today. "We
feel that the Earthdawn series has a rich history, and the acquisition
will benefit our next couple of series of booster packs, bringing a
whole new level of strategy and excitement for long time players and
those new to the CCG area as well".
It is also rumored that if the Earthdawn license sells well, that the
Wizards of the Coast have already started negotiations to purchase
FASA, who make the Shadowrun (TM) and Battletech (TM) series of the
games.
