I don't think anyone in this discussion has mentioned a certain factor
we're all dealing with: email. Whether you like or dislike someone on this
list is entirely based on the way they post; sure, some listmembers have
pictures of themselves up on their web pages, but not everyone checks
those out. As long as nobody can see you, they're not going to be
prejudiced toward you based on the way you look, only on the way you
present yourself on the list. IMHO that has a lot to do with charisma as
well.

Yeah, they got those radios from occupied countries -- two good things at
once: all Germans can listen to Hitler, and all people in the occupied
countries couldn't listen to resistance broadcasts from England anymore...

Erm, Gurth? I don't remember anything about Hitler useing e-mail...:)

Sure, but that doesn't apply to Hitler (or politicians in general). They
*did* see him.

Smooth move, don't you think? (Sometimes I'm not sure if I should vomit or
laugh, when I talk about this stuff)

That's not what I meant -- this got started as a charisma debate, and then
Hitler was brought in as an example of some weirdo who nonetheless seemed
to have/totally did not have (delete as appropriate to your point of view)
a huge charisma. I was trying to bring it back to the original by saying
that some people may be really cool through email, but if you were to meet
them IRL you might not want to have anything to do with, because then you
get to look at them as well as (or instead of) their writing.

What this really brings up is the difference between things like "matrix
ettiquette" (specialization ShadowRN :) and charisma. Or, more
genarally, social skills and charisma.

I can't remember what is right, so whatever....

So true....(speaking from more experience than I want to have)
