Thought you all might like to see this one. Would really hate to see
the SR game get killed after we have waited all this time...

Please god, nooooo...

Okay. I just checked out the GameSpot website. Here's the comment on the
front page:

GAMESPOT NEWS
Microsoft Eyes FASA Interactive
Rumors are flying that MechCommander
developer FASA is up and moving to Redmond,
Washington, Microsoft's backyard. Is there a
connection? FULL STORY

If you follow the "FULL STORY" link, here's what you get: (the URL is

Microsoft Eyes FASA
Interactive

Word on the Web is that Microsoft is getting
ready to purchase Chicago-based, FASA
Interactive. Earlier this week, we were told by a
source that FASA employees had been told they
would all shortly be moving to Redmond,
Washington - at least those interested in
remaining gainfully employed by FASA.

And while Microsoft won't comment on the
acquisition rumor, we've been told that Microsoft
executives were in Chicago a short time ago to
talk with FASA Interactive. We've also heard from
reliable sources that Microsoft officials were
talking to FASA employees on their own Chicago
turf about their views on Microsoft, compensation
plans and pay raises (in exchange for moving to
Redmond after the holiday season).

According to our source, some of the FASA
employees even walked out of question and
answer sessions when asked about their views of
Microsoft as it pertains to various litigation it is
involved in.

Previously, FASA offloaded work on
MechWarrior 3 to Redmond-based Zipper
Interactive so while Zipper is working on MW3,
FASA has already begun work on MechWarrior
4.

Early speculation was that Microsoft wanted both
MW4 and FASA's next game, Shadowrun. But
we've heard from another source that Microsoft
will kill off the Shadowrun title when FASA is
acquired (by Microsoft) because Digital Anvil,
Chris Robert's Microsoft-funded development
house, is already working on a similar title.

While no one is yet willing to go on the record, it
appears that official confirmation of talks between
the two companies is imminent.

Okay. I don't know how legit this is, since I thought FIT was owned by the
same owners as FASA and was hence a private company, and I really can't see
them selling out to MS...

Well, that just brought a good week down. :/
