Hey all again!

does anyone know if there have been Palm eBooks made of the TSS
Suplementals and plastic warrioir supplements? if there aren't, do you
think people would mind if i converted them to eBook format, especially if
i then sent them to the respective authors?
I know that people are going to say "Talk to the authors" for the last
one, but as I've seen both the authors post here, I thought I'd kill two
birds with one stone....

According to John@*****.co.uk, on Fri, 08 Jun 2001 the word on the street was...

I don't have a problem with converting the PW books to eBook format, but I
would prefer it if you'd wait until they're updated to third edition. Could
you contact me off-list about this, as I've got a few questions/remarks
that I think aren't going to be of much interest to the list?

I'm fairly certain at least one of them reads this list, yeah... ;)

Hey! Was that a dig? I read the list once in awhile.. ;P

John, if you want to make conversions of The Shadowrun Supplemental to some
sort of PalmOS format that's fine with me, but please start with issue #10
and work your way up; like Gurth I'm trying to re-release the older issues
in a more up to date styling with some stats and suchlike updated. (And
finally lay to rest the text/RTF versions.. bleh!)

(Which reminds me, I just need to chuck some art into #1 and do final
proofing and it's finished - not tough, since it came out to 8 pages with
Gurth's reviews removed from it.. :-) )

damn. I cant do PDF conversions right now (technicaly its probably
possible, but I'm not sure I've got the time), and text/rtf is *so* easy
to convert to DocBook format, which is what I'm going to be using.

as i dont have a website per se, would you like to host the files once
they're done, or should I open the invitation/offer/request/pleaeding to
the list as a whole..

cheers,

John

My suggestion would be to take the HTML versions and run them through a
HTML -> Text converter, then use that to work from, correcting any errors
that may have been caused by the conversion as you go.

I'll host the files no problem. (Is there a PC viewer for the format you're
using, so I could take a peek at them first?)

Hey Adam, do you have Acrobat 5 now? There's a way to streamline PDFs so
that they work with the new Acrobat Reader for PalmOS... you might want
to consider running your old files through Acrobat 5 to get this right
into the PDFs and re-release them. From what I've read, it's just a
matter of running the source files through Acro5 with that setting enabled.
