Another Doctor, makes me want to go to Uni. Dr Si, hmmm :?)
The novel, 2XS, by Nigel Findlay has a supporting character who was one of
the original E-M members. I don't know how useful that would be though, she
didn't do much.

Buddy. And she died, so she's really not much help :)

-Ahem-, I was deliberately avoiding saying that because it is a spoiler for
the book. Some people get upset about that sort of thing. (Personally I hate
suspense and deliberately seek spolers, but to each their own)

The book is what, 8 years old? Buddy was a minor character, and her death
had no major ramification on the ongoing Shadowrun metaplot, unlike say,
Dunkelzahns death.

Oh, wait, am I allowed to say that? ;)

I buy this second hand book on Ebay then put off reading it for a while
so I can get all worked up over the possible cool plotline and whatnot.
Then look what happens; instant Suspense-B-Gone. Thanks for nothing :-P
.

I'll be off now to ask a family member to OCR the book and replace the
name "Buddy" with something else.

well, no, that wouldn't be much help, that, and she's
[no offence intended] female. i thought i had
mentioned my char's "father" [i.e.: male ;-)] was a
member of echo mirage. oh, and yes, Damien Knight is
rather out of the question. no way in hell would my GM
allow that, nor would i want him to. having DK as my
father would make my life in the shadows rather...
difficult.

If you want to base it off a dead guy, there were a lot that were never
named, the vast majority in fact.
I'd suggest making one up, then having his death tie into something
interesting for the future of the game (say, what systems he was killed
in :-)

Well there isn't really awhole lot of them, surviving and sane that is.

As someone already pointed out the character in 2XS bit dust. The only
other once that come to mind are Damien Knight (CEO, Ares), and well if he
is your characters father then I guess you are set for life and don't need
shadowrunning and it's not like daddy would allow it. Then there is Alice
(she appears among other in the dragonheart trilogy), but since she is a
woman she can't be a daddy, the x-wife (since she is physically dead) of
Pres. Heffner. So I guess that is sort of out of the question to. Not to
mention that they are all human, not that that really is a hinderance since
an elven child would be so cute, I guess. Guess they are the "known" once
so you have better just make one up.

There really isn't a whole lot of info on them except that they where
either very good or very dead and if they survived they apparently used
there skills to become very rich. Perhaps we will all get some enlightment
in the subject later this year when MATRIX and all the related material
will be released from the vault at FASA.
