Todd, I really like the detail of your post. I only disagree with one
thing: The differentiation between Magic and Essence.

On the one hand, I can see the difference after Initiation. Butin general
I take a rather holistic vier of the two, and see that since they're tied
together, Essence represents in mages the "pureness" pf body that must
exist to channel magical energy. As more and more tech is added, the
body and its natural ability to manipulate magic are degraded. If you
regain Essence, you ought to be able to recover Magic, at least up to
the 6 mark, after which higher Magic ratings come as a result of Initiation,
skill, etc.
