For those not fluent in german:

Fanpro Gmbh, Whizkid LLC and FASA reached an agreement. Fanpro will market
new products developed by MikeM and Jordan Weisman, both in english and
german language. They will follow the current schedule by FASA, first
product will be YotC.

I'll query: So does this mean Fanpro is going to actually be handling the
end production of the shadowrun sourcebooks? Or is it just speculation on
people's parts?

The full text of the press release doesn't really say anything specific...
just that they are going to continue producing books in german for now and
english in the future... but isn't that just what they were doing before?

Just wondering... seems that here and there, people are under the assumption
that this means the NA shadowrun line is going to live on under this
agreement as well, yet nothing has really been said to indicate this is
so... especially since it was just last night that Mike Mulvihill posted on
the dumpshock forums that things were on hold for awhile for the shadowrun
product line.

sound just like that to me

actually they were producing german books, which they also wrote, and
translated english books. they did not produce the english books, what they
are obviously about to do.

I also read Mike's posting, but the press release does state that : "Fantasy
Productions ... und wird in Zukunft neues Material in Deutsch und Englisch
veröffentlichen."
in my humble translation :
FanPro .... and will release new material in German and English in the
future

as well as quoting Mike thusly: " I am proud of working with Wizkids _and
Fanpro_ and being able to tell great stories in a fantastic world"

that does imply that FanPro will continue the NA line. (imho of course, I
don't know that much about "business speech")

That's allright. Sounds like a fair comprimise to me. So long as that
Mulvihill fellow remembers who's signing his paycheck. :)

Thinking on it, this won't have been the first time they worked together; MM
cut his teeth at FASA working on Earthdawn - an irony that does not, I
assure you, escape me - while Jordan was still there. If, of course, I'm
getting my timelines correct.

What's it mean though? Who has control over content...and how much control
does FanPro have?

All good questions, and ones that I really don't think have been hashed out
yet. With Wieseman "directing" and Mulvihil "supervising", who's
doing the
actual work of getting words organized within a computer and thence ink onto
paper?
Fanpro's employees and freelancers probably have good english skills, but
are they THAT good? Wiz Kids is, by their own statements, not a publishing
company, so they apparently do not have the staff for that, either.

I guess Fanpro will do layout and stuff, everything related to printing the
books. Makes me wonder if they will try to streamline the layout for german
and english books to cut down costs...

It would be pretty simple to contract a translation company with checking
the texts, Fanpro employs no translators anyway AFAIK.
