Yes, but they're all things that anyone can do.

What I meant is, all decker archetypes/sample characters since the SR1
main rulebook have had headware memory. In fact, in the SRII rules
there's no other archetype that even has headware memory, even though for
a character like the Bodyguard it would come much more in handy than for a
decker...

My point is that I can't think of anything for which a decker requires
headware memory. All the stuff you mentioned are options open to anyone;
I'd assume there's some other thing you can do with it that only deckers
can make use of. The only thing I can think of, though, is using it as
offline storage, but that's not a very satisfactory answer :/

Maybe it's just a question of style. In the same manner that having a
samurai without speed increase is. I know, I know there was the ork
street samurai who didn't have speed increase, plus speed increase has
a rather obvious advantage.

Suggestion for use: Storage for a key.
You add a small component to your deck. This component is connected to
the interfaces (ASIST and keyboard). If the proper code is not entered
you cannot access the deck, it won't even turn on. You then store your
key in memory and the deck automatically checks your headware memory and
if correct.. Presto. Access.

This can ofcourse also be useful to riggers.

cheers
