Hey, don't send Huth-flames to me: I don't want them! Send them to
ROBERSON@***.EDU: I know he'll like them.
And hey! You gave out all of our Secret Identities! What's next, the

I receive mail from your list on this weird software program called MM, or
Multinet. I usually use e-mail, like to send these messages out, so if there's
a way to send my shadowmail from mm into regular e-mail, I'd like to know. If
not, can someone clue me in on how to get a printout from mm?
Thanks,
Mike

The expression "Been there, done that, nearly lost my degree becasue of it",
comes to mind.

There is a MUSH for Shadowrun. It's at yacht.slip.andrew.cmu.edu 4201.
They are still building stuff in there so it's not open to players yet.
But, if you know how to build using MUSH code, they could use you.

I know that I'll probably get flamed for this, but what is a MUD or a MUSH?

A MUD is a Multi-User Dimension/Dungeon. Not sure what MUSH stands for.
Basically, they are text-based environments where you can wander around,
do things, and interact with other users who are online. Much like the old
Zork series of games. Another variant is MOO, which is a MUD, Object-Oriented.

It's a multi user rpg on the internet. MOst of em are based on AD&D or Middle
Earth, but I think there is a Shadowrun one out there somewhere and I know ther
is a Btech one.

Apologies for the ping, but I seem to be getting my own posts, but nobody is responding to
them. Is it because I am irrelevant?

You mean like how an HP is nastier on a single shot than an AR? No, not
at all wacked:)

Yep, we can see and "hear" you. <grin>

Nope. (maybe you've kill-filed the whole list.)

Nope.

The last post you wrote, that I read, was pretty much self finishing,
there wasn't a lot of room for argument, and it seems a bit daft just to
say "Yep, I agree with that." after a two page post. If you want
conversation, try not to make such a good point with what you do say.
<grin> Maybe you'll get some more answers then.

(Serves you right for thinking before you post - not a habit encouraged
here.) ;)

I see.... I guess I'll have to go back to taking classes, I'm obviously not
getting enough though in each day if I'm thinking about ShadowRN posts!

Anyway, as for the question that I put at the end of my last post, would
anyone be interestyed in how I adjusted the damage codes?

Something one of my players mentioned that made me think a little about
this. OK, the power/damage is a tad off kilter, probably more for game
balance than anything. But, think of it this way. A pistol is used for
short range combat. A rifle of any sort is fairly useless at close
range because it's unwieldy, (think cinematic here not RL) The rifles
are better than pistols at ranged combat, longer range, better target
numbers. So it sort of evens out. Of course if one's players do
nothing but load up with the heaviest AR's they can find, then yes you
have a problem, where the LS officer with his Thunderbolt is doing a
damn sight more damage than the players with their "big guns" I don't
have a problem with it, neither do my players. Weapons are chosen for
the job in hand. If they _know_ they're going to get into deep drek,
then the heavier weapons come out, but normally, it's "pistols at 10
paces." :)

Taking modern crime situations into account, the majority of armed
combat goes down between people using sidearms, the majority of
shootings that occur on the streets are from sidearms. Assault Rifles
are a specialist thing that only make rare appearances, Machine Pistols
and SMGs are the same, they're out there, but rarely used. (That
situation may be changing if the recent LA incident is anything to go
by). So, I figure FASA just made an arbitrary decision to encourage the
use of more concealable sidearms and discourage openly walking around
the streets carrying assault rifles and cannon.

Just my thoughts.
